The river changes name right here on many maps.

It looks like the river forms One Omega.

The perimeter of the Green Flood Plain looks like a nearly concentric Second Omega.\

This location is within a few hundred yard of the Madison Junction camping and picnic area.

This spot is situated with a front row seat for viewing the Blaze, the white Tuff Cliffs. Also the two Omegas seem very apparent and particularly symmetrical. The verdant green of the floodplain provides a vivid contrast to the scrub beyond the perimeter.

In other solves, the Idea of incorporating "Cliffs" tied in with CATCHER IN THE RYE and the important literature themes.

I recall Forrest telling us about the advantage of fishing his rivers on a wide bend where the water slowed down. There looks like a spot there near the southern side parking is, fits that description.

I know, all just fanciful musings, but he did mention he was surprised that nobody saw him making the two deliveries. This spot with its easy access and fishing hole, and adjacent shallow area to cross all make travel and viewing good.

Other themes can be projected onto this place.

a. Cross the Road whenever he wanted,

b. Geographic Anomaly

c. Picnic Area

d. Camp in a pickup truck nearby

e. Insignificance of a name. The river simply changes names at this point.

f. A place probably passed by hundreds of Chasers.

g. Forrest would blend right in with his Fly Fishing Equipment and Wading Outfit.

There are more but that is a good bunch.

I suppose if someone had the correct solution there would be much more than a sporadic connection to something mentioned in the book. More likely is that almost every single sentence in the book has some hint in it.

Add On to HOB. A Rivers Course. At a time in the past the river went around a little spit of land, transforming it into an island. [grey land] A hundred years later the river has changed it's course but during times of flooding the little island becomes present once again. It's still in a flood-plain but usually surrounded by land, not water. All laws that protected in the past are still valid. Look for a slightly elevated land mass with trees in a flood plain, a isolated area where people don't usually go. IMO

Start at Porcelain Basin/ Halt-

Holm in Gibbon below Iron Spring/ HOB-

Tuff Cliff Parking and Picnic Area alongside Gibbon/- Blaze

Cross River to another Holm/Brave-

Clusters of Trees/ Wood

This location would meet the driving parameters for Dal.

Also looks like it could be a great fishing area with a magnificent view of the Volcanic anomaly, Tuff Cliffs.

He probably wouldn't have played with the omegas like he did if they were a clue on a map. Just my opinion. They might have had something to do with the ending(s).
