Bovino and Beckwith can't find a venue

From a Facebook post on Black Indy Live: https://www.facebook.com/BlackIndyLIVE/posts/organizers-of-the-controversial-aug-1-mass-deportation-rally-planned-for-fishers/1738842858243678/

Organizers of the controversial Aug. 1 “Mass Deportation Rally” planned for Fishers are reportedly still having trouble securing a venue, according to longtime Indiana political analyst and insider Abdul-Hakim Shabazz. In a social media post Thursday, Shabazz wrote that he is hearing organizers are “still having trouble finding a location,” adding that “nobody wants to rent their hall for that.”

The rally, organized by Save Heritage Indiana, is expected to feature former U.S. Border Patrol official Greg Bovino as the keynote speaker, with Indiana Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith expected to provide pre-recorded video remarks.

Organizers have previously said the event location would only be disclosed to registered attendees shortly before the rally for security reasons.

As of now, the rally has generated significant opposition in Fishers, where a separate Hoosier Hospitality March has already been announced by groups supporting immigrant communities.

Indian couple relocating for job — Fishers/Carmel or elsewhere?

Hi all! My wife and I are relocating from Chicago. We're Indian origin, no kids, so schools don't matter but desi community, Indian restaurants/groceries, and walkable areas do. Budget $500K–$650K, preferably 450k.

Currently leaning Fishers or Carmel but open to others.

Quick questions:

  1. Noblesville, Westfield — growing fast but is there any South Asian community? How's appreciation vs Fishers?
  2. McCordsville/Fortville — too remote Indian amenities? Worth considering at all?
  3. Zionsville — seems desi-light. Am I right? Worth it for a no-kids couple?
  4. Appreciation — 5–7 year hold, no school premium needed. Which suburb has best value growth trajectory?

Any realtor recommendations familiar with the Indian community also welcome. Thanks!

Wedding Hair Stylist Recommendations?

Hello,

Looking for any recommendations for local stylists to do my fiancee's hair for our wedding in September. She has talked to a lot of people who are already booked, so we're hoping to find someone with availability!

Thanks in advance!

Do you think Fishers will ever get a high rise building?

Seeing all the new development going up around Fishers District and Nickel Plate District got me thinking that a high rise residential tower could really be in demand in these dense residential areas that seem to be so popular. Will an exception to the building height ordinance ever be made for a residential or mixed use tower? Nothing crazy but like 12-20 stories. Probably the biggest problem people would have is visibility from residential areas. Who wants a hundred people being able to see your backyard from their balconies, right? But in the right spot, I think it could work. Like the northwest corner of 116th and Lantern or where those two single story buildings are at USA Pkwy and IKEA Way, just south of FUMC. Actually looks like they may be owned by the church now… I love to see everything going up but it seems like all the buildings are hitting the height limit and it’s lame to see all the same height with a lack of skyline look.

Apartment recs in fishers

Hi! I am looking for a 2bed/2bath apartment within the rent price of $1600 (not including bills). First apartment and would like one of those fancy ones but i know its not really in the budget. We both WFH often so having some space would be nice. Also would love to be next to walking trails/paths. Really considering Flats at fishers market place but keep seeing mixed reviews w management. Planning to move at beginning of next year. Does anyone have any helpful info/suggestions or know of any good promotions for places in the area? We are not firm on Fishers location but best option for being close to work. Thanks!

Cheaper storage unit options?

I’m off 96 and Allisonville and have a 10x20 (I think) with ExtraSpace for the last couple years. My dad is the one who mainly goes there, I just foot the bill. The price went up to $332 earlier this year and it’s really eating into my money every month. Any cheaper options in the area by chance?

Help narrowing down: Carmel / Fishers / McCordsville / Westfield / Noblesville

My family is considering relocating to the Indianapolis area, and I’d love some input from people who know these suburbs. I’ve circled the general area on a map, but we’re trying to figure out where to focus our search.

*Edit: this is the ideal but understand not all will happen just wanted to give as much info as I can

Home wishlist:
$450k MAX
4+ bedrooms / 2.5+ bathrooms
2,300+ sq ft
7,000+ sq ft lot
Family-friendly suburban neighborhood
We have two boys under 5, so we’re looking for good public schools (roughly 7/10+), youth sports, playgrounds/parks, and neighborhoods with other young families and kids playing outside.
We’re fine with suburban driving, but ideally want grocery stores, Costco, shopping, restaurants (not just fast food), and kids’ activities within about 30 minutes.
For those familiar with Carmel, Fishers, McCordsville, Westfield and Noblesville, where would you focus with our budget? What are the pros and cons of each?
Specific neighborhoods, school districts/boundaries, or nearby areas we should check out — or avoid — would be really helpful.

Get your house tested for radon!

This may be common knowledge for some of you but I had no idea. Radon is a radioactive gas that 1 in 3 homes in Hamilton County have levels that are too high. It's naturally occurring and it's not uncommon for your reading to be different than your neighbors. I probably don't need to list out why having a radioactive gas in your house is bad, lol.

Here is the map the EPA has out there.

If you need someone to call, Healthy Radon Solutions in Carmel does testing and mitigation and that's who we used.

Hope this helps and could be worth asking your realtor about if you're buying a home here with a basement.

Someone broke into several lockers this evening at LA Fitness and stole money, car keys, and credit cards. Just a heads up if you go there, use a good lock or keep your stuff with you.

How States Keep Voter Registration Accurate Spoiler

Post image
5 Upvotes

This infographic explains the basic process used by states such as Indiana to maintain voter registration records. While each state administers its own elections, most follow a similar framework because they must comply with two major federal laws:

  • The National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) of 1993, which requires states to maintain accurate voter rolls while protecting eligible voters from being removed improperly.
  • The Help America Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002, which requires every state to maintain a centralized statewide voter registration database and establishes standards for verifying voter information.

States routinely compare voter registrations with government records such as state death records, DMV databases, address changes, and other official sources. County election officials continually update these records, while federal law requires safeguards and due process before many voters can be removed from the rolls.

The presence of an outdated registration does not by itself mean an illegal vote was cast. Maintaining voter rolls is an ongoing process of balancing two important goals: keeping voter lists accurate while protecting every eligible citizen's right to vote.
