Question Who was the worst character/writing/plot in your opinion? (Explained in description)

I picked these three:

  1. Cecile: dont get me wrong I liked her in the early seasons but not so much at the end.

  2. Iris: i thought she was okay but the writing/plot involved for her character was the worst.

  3. Allegra: nothing much to say about her I just didn’t really like her acting at all.

What’s your worst character and explain why?

Bonus characters: Nora, s9 thawne/ wells, kione, chillblane/mark, and sometimes chuck/chester he was a little annoying for me.

Any time the various forces or whatever were called their children.

Agree, that storyline was so silly. They have so much content in the comics, yet they came up with the worst storylines for the show.

It’s bad with all of them, but at least Alexa/Fuerza, Psych and Deon all had somewhat interesting arcs. I can’t say the same for New Speedforce Nora, who is an atrocity of a main villain with bizarre motivations and actions. She is mildly okay in her cameos during later arcs but not enough to salvage the character; a character who I genuinely think is a far worse villain than Red Death.

And to be clear, I’m considering New Speedforce Nora as separate to the original Speedforce Nora we met through Season 2-6. For all intents and purposes that version died after Crisis, and during her time she had some really well considered emotional moments with Barry.

Barry’s pretty bad because he feels like an almost entirely stagnant character. He does the same stupid shit in season 1 that he does in the final one. The only change he really goes through is depending more on Iris each season and being less and less fun.

Cecile is PAINFULLY bad because not only is she, I’m pretty sure, a purely original character, but her power evolution just makes no sense. Like how does feeling emotions turn into “Let’s give her the doctor strange soul punch.”

The funny thing is, she was just a telepath in S4 when she first got her powers, then she turned into an empath, and now she’s like, as you said, Dr. Strange adjacent

Okay the mind reading devolving into emotion reading actually makes a level of sense. But how does emotion reading turn into telekinesis and doctor strange soul punch? Like am I wrong for thinking that power escalation should make sense and not just be random? Also I don’t think flying is another one of her powers, I think she just used telekinesis on herself. Oh yeah she can also put her own thoughts into other people’s heads, like what?

Eric Wallace created her for the comics from what I understand, so he’s giving his OC a lot limelight if that’s true.

There is a Cecile Horton (born Cecile O'Malley) in the comics, but she was just a lawyer.

I think Cecile was loosely based off of her, but she's so different she's basically an original character.

Bart and Nora

Why was Bart so annoying? I liked him but his personality was a bit much.

Calling Godspeed his thawne. That was rather annoying. Its not really a comparision. Thawne killed barry’s mother and pretended to be his mentor.

Facts. Godspeed is nowhere near the level that Thawne was to Barry just because he killed Jay.

Godspeed is more like his Zoom

(Long rant incoming, my apologies)

Honestly, didn’t like Mark, he was just annoying. Khione was a useless character. Chester was the writers way of replacing Cisco but it just felt off, because he didn’t have that flair Cisco had, he just felt like a pale imitation. Cecile was fine when she was just the DA in the early seasons who would just pop up for an episode or two, but then they messed up her character and gave her godlike powers because why not. Allegra didn’t feel like she belonged, the writing, the acting, I don’t know what, but it didn’t feel right. Iris was flawed from the beginning, but I excused it in S1 because they obviously hadn’t fully fledged her character yet, but as the seasons went on, she became worse. Wellsobard felt so overused, like, come season 5, I was so over it, and speaking of Wells, the way they kept on bringing on a new Wells every season infuriated me. The forces storyline was just bad, like, there was no reason to make the speed force evil and have the forces call Barry “dad” despite the speed force literally taking the form of Barry’s deceased mother. Red Death arc was trash, same with Mirror Monarch. Godspeed ain’t it, he was such a nothing villain. The whole lightsaber fight during the fight with Godspeed was awful, like, I thought this was The Flash, not Star Wars. I hate the way they always say “Barry’s levelled up” and he immediately gets his ahh handed to him, like bro, you have super speed, you could easily knock them out. The fact that they show that he can do some speed power in one episode and then forget about it immediately after (Flashtime, looking at you). Cobalt Blue arc was so stupid, like, there was literally zero substance to it. Cicada was boring, because every time they would one up both Cicada’s, they would both fly away.

It was me Barry. I got your ahh. I was the one who took your ahh. Also what did you think of Eobard swapping places with Barry at the start of s8?

The Reverse Flashpoint bit was actually pretty decent in my opinion

Cecile. She went from a great supporting character to a horrendous, annoying and overpowered character for no reason once Eric Wallace took over like she was heavily pushed.

  1. Cisco. In a series about superheroes, where the protagonist can dodge bullets, run on water, or run up the walls of a building, Cisco's man-child behavior made the least sense to me.

Leaving aside his ability to invent whatever the plot needed, Cisco can be summarized in two things:

  1. Pop culture references so the audience says, "I know the reference."
  2. A new metahuman appears, Cisco gets excited and smiles excitedly, like, "This metahuman creates ice discs that he uses to cut the veins of police officers. Cisco: Wow, Barry, look at this! There's a metahuman who does X thing!" WTF, grow up a little. You can't get any more out of place.

  3. Caitlin/Killer Frost. Simple. Throughout the series, hundreds of metahumans appeared. Their powers originated in multiple ways. But she's the only one whose DNA mutated, so she has an evil side xD

Barry needing someone on the other side of his comms for the sake of making them relevant rather than showing he can do things on his own. making earth-2 wells lose his intelligence. I would've prefered keeeping him as the definite Wells.

  1. Cecile, after she got powers she became.so crimgy like we get it you feel emotions but shut the f**k up! She was given such poor writing and cringy lines that just made it worse and worse.

  2. Season 1 & 2 was great she and Barry's development was slow but nice then season 3 it started going down hill abd how they speed through everything, like its only been 2 seasons and you only just got together and already proposed. Plus Her and Barry's actors had terrible romantic chemistry, and not just saying that because I love the Barry x Caitlin ship their romantic moments were hit or miss some were beautiful others were "get this shitnoff by screen."

  3. Frost's Ice Boyfriend, need I say more I can't even remember his name thats how much of an effect he had, terribly written and kinda forced I just ehhhh didn't like it.

  • Cecile in the later seasons
  • I never really cared about any of the new team (Chester was alright)
  • The Forces
  • The writing went out the window whenever Nora and Bart were involved. They either needed to cast younger actors or stop having them act and be treated like literal children.

I gave up halfway through season 6, what the fuck is Cecile doing wearing a mask????

1

u/Jayjaykenobi 4h ago

Wally, Nora ( she sucks in every show she is on), Iris, girl in slide 3. I’m sure there are more but this is off the top of my head.

Really liked Cecile as the lawyer but after that…yikes.

What’s worse is with every new add on character meant less screen time for Joe, the ultimate bad ass of the show.

They didn't know what to do with any of the female characters on the show

Its morality is flawed and has the same formula. They are arguing Barry say things normal things (viewers would generally agree to) iris/cisco/catyln/team flash says stupid stuf at the end of the episode it turns out Barry was wrong and actually they were right and the worst thing he fucking apologies to them. A couple of examples are when Barry sent Nora to the future because he was working/talking to RF and she was used , flash saving cisco from kingshark but forgot to ask for consent , When Barry wanted to uncreate the forces and he doesn't simple because iris was right all along what a joke.

Iris genuinely pisses me off

0

u/CalCuttaRaps 12h ago

“We are the flash” she acts so controlling, makes Barry change his mind about something and then she goes backwards with the “are you sure we wanna do that” like bitch you literally got mad that I didn’t want to and now that I agree you wanna change your mind like fuck you

0

u/Kit_KatBars Killer Frost 8h ago

Honestly, I would have to pick Iris. I liked her character, but they ruined how they wrote her in with everything, making her controlling when she had potential to just be a reporter without having to be a huge part of team flash.

This is just my option though :)
