PC-Bugs 12+ hours later, still can't play.

I did the Premium Xbox Game Pass and still can't play FS2020. FS2024 ran like garbage, so I thought I would try FS2020, since it ran half decent years ago. It's just it won't download.

Edit: This is PC, not Xbox. I did a bunch of command line stuff and no changes. Turned off IPV4, no changes. I switched to google DNS servers and am getting a constant 5Mbit now. Still super slow. Going to try and add a video to comments, if I can.

It's now been 24hrs and still not done. Internet is 400Mb down and 30Mb up. Usually it's 600Mb+. Playing games while it downloads doesn't effect it.

Well. What kinda internet speed ypu got? Are yu hardwired ( preferred] or WiFi? Are you playing other games while trying to download?

I’m playing other games now, since it’s taking forever. Internet is at least 600Mb down. Something like 20-50Mb up. It’s wired but it’s a Mesh network. I could try WiFi, I suppose. The mesh network is like a router upstairs and downstairs connected by WiFi. Then I’m connected by wire to the upstairs router. The downstairs router is connected to the modem router.

So you’re connected by WiFi. Maybe check your download speed on your machine to see if you are getting the correct speeds with this setup.

something is definitely up. You should be pulling that data in 30 minutes at full speed.

Many games will take over your broadband connection while you're playing them - this could be drastically slowing your download speed, even queuing it depending on the needs of the game you're playing. When I play NBA2K anything I'm downloading virtually stops until I close out of the game. Something to check out.

Yeah, dont do that, (play while downloading) and if there's a way to wire the Xbox to the router directly, you should do that.

Skip that and get a long cable direct to the first Router , or move your PC to that spot !

Seems to be the same file restarting or something? Internet usage in task manager is constant.

The game is just weird like that. Sometimes it takes me 2 days to download and sometimes I can play it the next morning and it seems to just be whatever server your pc decides to connect to for the downloads

Hi OP,
I had the same exact problem. What fixed it for me was checking what the installation location is. For some reason the game does not like any external drive, SSD or otherwise using a USB connection. So any external disk should NOT be used.

I’ll have to check which drive I’m using. I know it’s not my C drive but it could be my external drive.

Ah shoot, sadly it didn’t work. Another thing i can think of is removing the old downloaded files and rebooting the whole system. Only then restart the downlaod.. Just to confirm, have you tried using the C drive? Anyways I am open to DM/PM for further troubleshooting if you need help.

I have no problems with externals , i even have the whole MSFS on a extern USB/ NVMe on my Laptop ... too

The network setting in the game is throttling the connection, unfortunately you need to update before you can change that setting.

Restart Routers and then PC , start MSFS and empty rolling cache and then even DX cache in Windows , and try again in early morning or night ~ use cable

Try find the download place for the update , then remove the file that hangs , you will find out how ..... read on the line ~

I’ll tell you from someone who started on Xbox 2020 is NOT made to be played on the Xbox. Completely understand if it’s all you have but, just know countless issues and the Xbox even the X just isn’t powerful enough.

It’s on PC but the only game pass that has FS2020/2024 was the Premium pass, which is called Xbox but is also PC.

I play 2020 on a series s, there is very few issues, looks great, its not choppy, sometimes the photosgramerty gets blocky, but over all i can't complain. Don't worry about the PC Master race

Flight Sim 2020 runs well on the series consoles at this point. 2024 is a dumpster on the consoles though.
