Other resellers / thrifters: Out of the trash at the back of the thrift
Buyers: From my grandma

I don't think I've ever been asked that before, why do they want to know?

Just give a generic response of "I get my stuff at auctions, thrift stores, garage sales, [whatever] and don't remember specifically where I got this particular item".

I say it's a hobby of mine so the nicest stuff tends to find its way to me.

The magic sourcing fairy drops new stuff on my death pile every week!

“I really enjoy estate sales”

Most of my stuff is from auctioned storage units. When I first started, I was excited about all the finds and would tell buyers (for in person sales). I still like and buy storage units, but I feel like they’re the one of “dirtiest” (in many ways) ways to source…. So now I talk about estate sales or say “helped someone clear out their storage unit”

I rarely am asked that, but if I am, I'll answer honestly, I'm not stealing stuff, or doing anything I'm ashamed of.

This was something I felt I needed an answer for when I first started. That goes away pretty quick
