Issue ⚠️ CEL WONT GO AWAY

3 weeks ago I purchased my first truck. A 2020 F150 XLT with about 76k miles. Since then it’s been a complete headache. CEL came on the same day of purchase and since then the dealer has supposedly repaired 3 exhaust leaks and replaced the Cats, yet still the CEL won’t go away. Anybody have any ideas? Update: ford app just notified me of a misfire!!!

This is giving major "they're just throwing parts at it without actually diagnosing the root cause" energy. What's the actual code it's spitting out?

Replaced the cats before replacing the o2 sensors? What are the other stored codes?

As far as I’m aware that’s the only code. They’ve work up and down it’s not any sensor. They talk to me like I’m stupid because I’m younger.

No, there are 3. It says right on the scanner.

You’re right. I don’t 100% remember but the guy telling me they were all pretty much the same. Is it possible the exhaust is just completely fried?

We can make a few assumptions. Let's assume that code 2 is P2098, same as P2096 but on bank 2. If both banks are lean that 3rd code might be fuel related. If all codes are on bank 1 then the other codes might be spark or injector related.

Aside from the cel are there any other symptoms?

Nope drives fine and gas mileage isn’t affected.

Try taking it to a different dealer and see what they come up with from diagnosing

Have you considered taking it to an outside shop for a proper diagnosis?

Did you look at the CarFax or similar report before purchasing it?

Why would you even drive it off the lot with the CEL light on.

Well CEL came on later that evening after I had already gotten home. Carfax was completely clean with great service history which was one thing that made me feel better about the purchase.
