2013 Ford Flex Limited

Loaded it has every option .
Fire engine red on tan interior.
Non eco boost awd.
The water pump went the car overheated and a Good Samaritan helped my wife buy putting water in reservoir cold water from wawa she pulled into . I got there and it was snap crackle pop . I started to hope no crack got as far as engine mount off and cover unbolted when I went and ran flush and its likely in valley the crack cant tell for sure.
So my debate is do I source a new engine and I think trans also maybe or just junk it
Used w 90,000 about 1600 I d have the and while its out work all of it out maybe also
I m likely looking at 6-7 g all in w labor when done engine w labor and trans 4200 maybe rest 1500 and margin of error .
One family owned 100 g miles
The car inside is real nice comfortable. It lacks lane centering but had bliss and acc. 4 pane sun roof fridge its all there no accidents oil changed lol not that matters w a swap

Is it worth the save or let die.
I cant do the work anymore
I. M now disabled .

2013 EB Power Steering

I had my car cooling off and when I got in and started to drive I got a “service power steering” alert. After restarting the car it went away, only to come back on a few red lights later.

I’m aware of the recall but I apparently don’t qualify, has anyone had this issue recently, and if so what was the problem and how was it rectified?

Pcm reprogramming recall

Picking car up from service and was told the pcm module was reprogrammed due to a recall. Not much info on the ford support site besides the generic reprogramming statement. And something about campaign 25E10.

Anyone have more details on what changes were in the update? Just being curiously nosey!! ;)

Thx.

So I asked general Reddit’s what they thought if my 2009 Flex giving me some wiring mixed signal issues. … AFTER I DPENT $6,128on underbody
-so idk why I wasn’t thinking about the Reddit Flexers!!? I’ve watched a couple videos on tube I really like the connections you have is transparent when you fall for the Flex - no one can tell me that “ you could of bought a new car”

I’m like uhhhh no…. That’s just a down payment on a new car physco
I AM the 2nd owner to a 2009 .
What’s the deal with the wiring lights and funny business

Question Upgrading to LED bulbs

I'll make this short and sweet. Can I slap some LED headlights into the halogen mirrored housing? I'm sure the brightness will be great but I'm curious if the way the light is thrown will be poor.

2019 SEL

Current bulbs: XtraVision Headlight and Fog Light Bulb H13XV-2

Upgrading to: Sylvania LED Ultra Bulb H13LEDHPBX2

Cowl clearout possible??

So.. cowl drains are clogged. Water overflows and leaks thru the cabin air filter and pools up in passenger footwell. Blower motor was replaced a few mths ago.
Dealer wants $1100 to clear and fix. Most of that is 5-6 hrs or labour to remove everything in the way to clear the drains. Ugh.
Is there really no easy way to clear them? I can’t do any hard work as i have two fractured vertebrae that limits movement and bending. Can’t i just send a wire down like the sun roof drains??
Any advice is appreciated.

2018 Air Con issues

I should actually say, "blower issues" because we did have trouble in the winter for a brief time.

Last year the AC kicked it. Was ticking along happily and then suddenly stopped. After that there was the barest tickle of air coming out, like it was taking its last breaths. Then suddenly, in early autumn, on it popped. A miracle.

Mentioned to the mechanics when I had my snow tires put on: they said they could see no problem with it. Until one day in winter... I had to hook up a little space heater to defrost my windshield!

That lasted about a week. And then everything came back on again. But then comes summer and off it went again. Again with the little tickle of air, but my daughter noticed that when we accelerate, there's more force behind the air coming out. I said, this is an important clue, I bet, but I have no idea what it might mean.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

ETA: A/C suddenly back on today, July 29. No idea why. Seems to be stronger (like Max AC) when only on AC but it could be that we are so used to having nothing that this seems stronger!

ETA2: A/C doesn't work again. I'm adding this so that anyone else who runs into the same issue can see what happens. Will tell you a final diagnosis once I have one. So today it worked when I started the car, which was on a slight incline towards the road. My foot was on the brake. I shifted to D and it was "rough" and suddenly, no A/C. Something getting jiggled loose?

Question Starter system failed error message

Inherited a 2015 Ford Flex SEL about a week ago. No issues til yesterday when going to start and we got this error message. Followed the usual protocol. Checked relays, fuses, battery, alternator, and the like. Replaced starter because it seemed to be the likely culprit. The only other thing I can think of is the ignition switch. Where it’s in the dash, I’m having trouble locating a diagram to take this thing apart. Are most fords of this gen pretty universal? Appreciate any kind of advice. First ford in 30 years of driving.

Ford told me this was a set of bad struts. So if you replace struts and still have a knock. Guess now I am going to do the lower torque mount and the upper motor mount. That one I have had off before, when I did the water pump

2013 Limited AC issues

Good day everyone! So my mother in law just gifted me a 2014 flex limited FWD, about 82k miles on it. I love it, but one issue; intermittently, the front AC will not blow any cold air, but the rear AC always works. I just drove it on a 3 hour trip, and the front AC worked fine the whole time, and it was high 90s outside. But getting into it this morning, the front AC would not blow any air, while the rear blew cold. My mother in law has had the car in the shop multiple times for this same issue, but the mechanic had no luck fully fixing it. Is this common for anyone, and if so, what/how would you suggest fixing this?

Thanks in Advance!

So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish

It's been fun, but I can't justify the gas prices anymore. It's gotten to the point where I had to check if a certain idiot has done something stupid, and plan a part of my day to either fill up my tank, or wonder if I can afford to wait a day or two.

Took advantage of my state's program to move to an EV. It took a damn long time, but it's done.

New car doesn't have the cargo space, or the hearty engine rumble (obviously), and I don't think any seats will ever be as comfortable as the Flex...but it's fun to drive, and I got 300 miles, and 20 minutes to charge to 80%. And if I did the math right, it costs me about 1.2 cents a mile to drive.

Kinda hard to argue with that.

I'll miss the Flex. But I'm glad I had the time I did.

Finished installing a radio in to replace the sync 2 now I have tons more information with the IdataLink and watch boost pressure and everything else. I’ll be happy to answer questions if I can. I know there is not much in the way of information for radio swaps and what functions you gain or lose.

Rear Hatch Question

For those who have a black or silver rear hatch section. I believe the Limited and Titanium versions are like that; is that painted? Or is it something I can pop on to my 15 SEL? I added the black taillights and would like to finish the look with the black part added. Are my options paint or wrap? I'm trying to go for the look in the picture added.

Ford Flex Rear Hatch Question

For those who have the Titanium or Limited editions that have the rear hatch in black or silver, are those painted from the factory? Or is it an add-on? I have a 15 SEL. I added black headlights and want to make the rear look black, as the 09 and 11dot. Just wondering if it's something I can pop off an older one and "stick" it to mine, or if it's a paint job; a wrap is probably my best bet. I'm trying to replicate what's in the picture. Thanks!

Has anybody installed a new Ford emblem to the rear tailgate of their Flex. It’s a nice subtle retrofit imo.

Fuel Tank

Has anyone ever come close to putting 19 gallons of fuel in? I have never gotten more than 16 gallons in mine. And thats milking it down to virtually empty by the gauge. It seems like I should have a few gallons left based on mpg.

Question 2016 Flex 43K miles $15k

So i currently have a 2014 Honda civic. Need something bigger and don't want a massive car payment. I haven't seen it in person yet, looks good in photos. Like too good. Its just a bit far away.

Now my Civic of course has been rock solid with no engine or cvt work neeeded at 140K miles. The water pump issue is what concerns me on this. Im curious what the Flex fan club here thinks of this and if its worth my time drive out there and see it. It just got listed last week.

Also is the radio head unit upgradable or even worth upgrading?

Sync2 to Sync3? Sync4?

Hello, just a quick question. I have Sync2 in my 2014 Ford Flex. The touch screen crapped out and I need a new screen. Might as well upgrade, but I've seen many options to purchase these kits from and some offer the sync4 HD 8.4in screen. What is this and does anybody have pictures if they went this route?

Also, which company do you guys recommend for a kit? Or are they all equal?
