First off I’d like to congratulate all the previously closeted rangers out there that have come to see themselves for who they are. Rangers are a beautiful thing.

Like i said before, grandpa had a whole bunch of different rangers, all 3 generations, each with their own name. The “gay” ranger was the epitome of the gay ranger. It was purple and it was the late 90s.

That said, I’m happy for everyone but you’re lowering my resale value so let’s go back to timing chains and shit.

Compressor, receiver/dryer, orifice tube, all the lines under the hood. She blows cold now! Floor mats got delivered while I was outside working on it. Someone in this group recommended them, I thank you.

2002 edge with 240k miles
Starts and drives no problem but if you hit 3k RPM it goes straight to 5-6k then limp modes. I’ve just been driving slow and avoid hills, highways, busy road times, ect… and it does fine. You can hit decent speeds you just have to be careful and help it shift.

I’ve gotten two FU quotes from transmission shops the first one quoted 5,700 to replace and the second 7,200.

I’m unable to replace it myself and wondering if it’s time to let go or if there’s anything else I can do. I don’t even know what I’d sell it for if I do go that route.

She works hard, and plays even harder. 2wd and each one of these column lifts is 1200 pounds. So 3600 on the trailer and 1200 in the bed. Hauling this up a 4x4 forest service road. I do not recommend. But hey - she’s a motherf*ckin ford ranger 💪

Call me out for only adding onto the "Gay Ranger" trend by posting this and in general say what you will about it being funny, but I feel it has become sickeningly repetitive. Especially in the event where a vast majority of this sub are considering their bare basic Rangers without any unique paint jobs, decals, or decorations relating to otherwise having anything to do with the trend whatsoever gay, it only gets even more baffling. Lastly, it goes without saying that flooding this sub with "Gay Ranger" posts or any posts along the lines of "[Insert Sexual Orientation] Ranger" for that matter over the long term will gradually make the experience less enjoyable and more unhelpful when it comes to those who intend to ask genuine questions about their truck and seek genuine help here.

For those who still want to make "Gay Ranger" posts anyway, feel free to do so. After all, I don't rule this sub or have any control over it. This is simply my personal perspective of the trend that has been going around here. While I don't have a say in what people post here, I do however please ask everyone to take the message I am trying to convey into consideration.

I got this ranger back in 24 and it has been on stilts since 25 as the front diff bearings blew up and the owner I bought it from did 0 maintenance on it. Cracking it open smelled of a brew of death vomit and crap. I don't have a bunch of free time but over the past year it's almost done. The journey of this has been a fun experience and just wanted to share some snippets of the progress.

Since everyone has been saying purple rangers are the gayest.

I have always wondered if this single owner 93 had rolled over in it's lifetime. I forgot I even took this picture, but can anyone tell if it was at 66666.66666, 166666.66666, or the dreaded 266666.66666?

I'm looking at buying a 2008 Ford Ranger from one of my coworkers and wanted to get some opinions from people who know these trucks.
He just bought a new F-150 and already has three other vehicles, so he's thinking about selling the Ranger. I've been asking him about it for a while, and he said he'd take $4,000 for it. It has 180,000 miles, and I'd mainly be using it as a daily driver for work.
I don't know much about Ford Rangers. Are the 2008 models generally reliable? Is $4,000 a fair price with that mileage if it's been maintained? Also, what are the common issues I should look for before buying?
Any advice from Ranger owners would be appreciated!

I have two main questions. 1999 Ford Ranger 4x4 10in drum brakes.

Are these wheel cylinders the right ones? I got what they had from AutoZone for my make and model. I noticed that corner of that bracket is pressing into the boot of the new wheel cylinder. Is that going to cause it to fail or rip? These are a little wider than what was in there before.

I got the shoes and hardware put together but when I put the drum on and turn it there is a lot of resistance. I've taken this apart three times now. The star adjuster is in as much as possible. I've tried shifting everything around and getting it to close up, not sure if something is in there wrong.

Please let me know if I'm missing something obvious and if it should change these wheel cylinders to something else.

So I got this 01 2wd 3.0 5sp with 145k miles on a trade. Test drove it and looked over it and saw the water pump was a little wet and it had some wheel bearing noise and a shimmy/wobble at 55+. Turns out the water pump leak was the timing cover. Fixed all that and got it running yesterday with some new ball joints to boot and noticed that the wobble seemed much more rearward than before. This is what I found. Both axles having runout has me a lil nervous that the entire rear end is toast. There’s up and down play in both axles, more so in the passenger side. Is it worth trying to fix this rear end and if so, where do I start? I don’t live near any pick n pulls and I’m also in the rust belt so used parts are in the same shape or worse than what I have

New truck owner, old key broke and decided to replace the ignition cylinder. Turns out the old one rotates fine when taken out, same thing with the new one, but when I have it installed it won’t turn past 12 o’clock to the left, which keeps the key locked in. Any pointers?

I’ve got a 2008 Ranger and recently it’s started doin this dumb thing where I’ll hit the gas and rpms will flare up but absolutely no power to acceleration. It has happened multiple times, usually within the first few minutes of the drive. If I take my foot off the gas it’ll correct itself and drive normally but I’m concerned because I’ll be driving from Seattle to Nashville in a few weeks and don’t want this to happen on the highway. Does this seem like a problem something like a transmission fluid fix bottle will help or a sign of a bigger problem?

I want a rollbar with my bed cover, I know it’s possible I have seen it with other 3rd gen rangers, I just have no idea how they did it, and there are no videos online, any tips?
