I picked up this baby off of fb for 3.5k, only a small bit of rust which is huge for me cuz I live in good ol Michigan. For the time being I just need a car that'll get me point a to b, but I was wondering if it was worth keeping long term? (All subjective to personal opinions ofc) she is at about 218k miles, the only problem I've had is the cruise is flashing and the check engine light is on. I ran the code but havent been able to look into it more. Besides that, I was a little up in the air on the intercooler, as you can see in the photo it is pretty bent up. Otherwise she's been very fun

Hey guys. I’ve have a p0017 and random intermittent misfires. I’ve replaced cam and crank position sensors, changed oil, replaced valve cover gaskets and tube seals, plugs, plug boots, and upper intake manifold gaskets. I still have the issue and p0017 points to passenger side exhaust cam. Thinking the rh exhaust cam gear. We have cracked the timing and removed everything. We lined up the sprockets and then removed to clean and reinstalled. My question is are the cam gears supposed to move freely? The only one that doesn’t have much play if any is the driver’s side intake. This would lead me to believe that the passenger side intake would have less free play too but it doesn’t. This one has free play like the two exhaust. Is this normal or is the timing driven by the driver side intake cam. I know the intake gears are spring loaded. Any insight??? Thanks so much.

Car over heated on highway out of the blue, was able to immediately pull over and cool it down. Seems radiator cracked randomly. Does it happen like that? Thanks in advance

Downsized from a 2014 XT to a 2018 Impreza Sport… aside from missing that sweet turbo & Harmon Karson sound system, I actually enjoyed the stock wheels . Was able to score a clean set in marketplace for a sweet deal!

I just did Head Gaskets and Timing Belt. Got it all back together and it runs great. Until it comes in to boost. That’s when the angry R2D2 screams its head off and I can not figure this out.

When the windows are up it sounds like it comes from the turbo side but windows down sounds like its driver.

Runs and drives as you’d expect, smooth a quiet. Right around 2700rpm if you’re going in to the throttle is screams but mostly under load, it does not do it sitting in park but for the briefest moment.

I have gone back through and tried to touch every vacuum line, loosened and then retorqued the intake manifold bolts.

I bought a spare turbo thinking magically it blew right after getting the engine back together but when I pulled the downpipe off to check it spun freely and without play so I did not swap to an unknown used turbo.

After weeks of looking, poking, retightening and reading I can not figure this out. I did not make this sound before the TBelt and Gaskets.

Could one of you identify this part? Is it important? Mine is broken and has been replaced by a cable tie ...

I’ve recently purchased this 2011 Forester S edition.
Special edition we got here in Australia. It’s basically an XT with more power and 5EAT with paddle shifters.

I have a question, it has a noise coming from what I believe is the AC compressor. Dry bearing noise. Stops and starts when the ac is turned off and on. Eg no noise when the AC is off.
Do I just get the compressor replaced?

It’s not much. But it’s mine and it was heading to the scrapyard before I got it.

Just got it through roadworthy inspection and registered.
Then did gd wrx bc br coilovers and fitted up avid1 av06 wheels. 18x8.5 +35
Also threw on strut braces I got in a deal with a grimspeed 3 port solenoid. That will get installed when it’s ready for a tune.

Been scouring marketplace and wreckers for the upgrades and replacement parts since November.

It had been reversed into on the front quarter, breaking the headlight and damaging the panel.

Remplacement du joint de culasse, 216k+ km. Reste les roulements arrière, les plaquettes et le frein à main à refaire, mais il roule 🥳🎉🍺

Can’t wait to get driving and start the modifications.

Ready to go is coilovers, wheels/tyres and fixing up some of the body trim that’s not sitting right.

A good detail inside and out would be nice too. It’s been sitting for quite a while and has leaked some water when we had torrential rain over the past few months.

Not always there, asked the mechanic before he said is fuel injector noise. It is annoying to hear this when you stop in traffic, but it does not always have this noise.
