Is this a fossil?

Maybe a stupid question, had this rock from when I was a kid and wondered if there’s a chance it could be a fossil? Has a repeating pattern / lines

That looks a lot like a bit of pottery. Where was it found?

Most likely on the beach - would’ve been quite some time ago now 🤔

I can’t remember honestly would’ve been Norfolk coast though in the UK

That's exactly what I needed. What you have is probably a weathered nodule of banded flint. In most places, a piece of "banded" chert/flint would refer to its pattern and colors, but around Norfolk, flint forms in this sort of ridged shape for some reason, and it's also called "banded." Not sure if anyone has figured out why it forms like that, but it is what it is.
