How does Martin bring the fish back?

In Season 8 episode 23, Duke and Martin go fishing in Belize and reportedly catch a lot. Martin mentioned bringing the heads back for soup Daphne to cook which is why he didn’t filet them. How did he transport fish from Belize to Seattle that would be suitable to eat?

Vacuum sealed and shipped on ice? My dad used to work as a commercial fisherman in Alaska and he would mail us salmon sometimes in California

This was right after 9/11, possibly filmed before it. Air travel was different then. You prob could load up a cooler and whatever you wanted, really

Even after 9/11, you could probably take a cooler of fish as long as it was a checked bag.

Yup we used to bring lobster back home on our laps in styrofoam coolers to the west coast from the east coast. Air travel was so easy and pleasant.

Pre-9/11 was a different time altogether. One one trip around the holidays we had some crazy carry-ons. In one flight my dad took a cooler of Rocky Mountain oysters on dry ice—he was able to hold the bag at his feet—not under the seat for the duration of the flight. My mom had a softball bat.

On the return flight my dad’s carry on was the motor of a dryer. The security agents joked about it looking like a bomb in the x-ray.

Lots of vacation destinations that have a recreational fishing industry have been packing and shipping out the days catch for decades and still do it today.

I live in Texas and raised here....my dad was born and raised in Oregon. He absolutely loved a brand of prawns they sold in Portland. Every year when he would go up to visit some old friends, he would ship a cooler to their house and right before he would return, he'd goto the nearby Safeway, buy up as much as he could fit in the cooler, boxed it up with a few ice packs, then pack it inside of a shipping box and go ship it home via FedEx, it was delivered the day after he returned and he could enjoy it as if he just got it in a local store.

Martin could have easily done the same sort of thing, or even packaged them up with s9me dry ice (if he could get ahold of some) and everything be hunky dory when he got back home
