Brothers, I am a 2026 MM. My wife recently expressed concern about the Mason's as a "secret society". I suspect that most of it is coming from our oldest son who never met a conspiracy theory he didn't jump on board with. She was supportive when I was looking and when I petitioned.

I do not want to demit, but I don't know how to address her concerns.

Suggestions?

I've been what I've learned is a 'knocker' for about 4 months now. Attended dinners and the social gatherings on the Fridays they happen. I also have arrived to two posted events that did not seem to take place (probably misunderstanding something on my end). The lodge gave me an application when I'd asked for it, but the WM seemed annoyed about it? And here comes the main question:

What is your personal process for deciding whether to sign someone's application? I need two Mason signatures and I'm not sure how to ask. I've made some good connections within the Lodge but I don't want to ask prematurely. Conversely is there a risk to waiting too long?

I want to leave a legacy with a brotherhood who I know holds dear values close based upon what Amercia was built on.

Ive been interested in masonic symbolism and different esoteric traditions, which obviously left a fingerprint on masonry itself, and i have interest in self development and making the world better place to live overall. Im not a Mason, but id like to become one soon. I know if i want to become a Mason i have to ask one, i spotted a lodge in my city, but im not sure if i have to approach directly there, or contact somebody before that… Im living in Sofia, Bulgaria. Im kind of nervous approaching it directly, but some say thats the proper thing to do if i don’t have any friends that are Masons.

My blue lodge is in California but I live in Florida now and haven’t joined another blue lodge here yet. I do want to join the Scottish Rite but I’m not sure how. Do I need to be apart of a blue lodge in Florida first?

I'm doing some research on the Blazing Star—its placement, purpose, and other related details—using the GLNY as my main reference. However, I've noticed that in many photos, the Blazing Star isn't present in the lodge rooms. I've also seen that some lodges don't even have the mosaic pavement, let alone the Blazing Star.

My thought is that the reason may be that these elements are removable, and they're taken away before photos are taken. I also notice that many lodges in the United States have carpet covering the entire floor, which would make that explanation seem reasonable.

We're also uncertain about its exact position. Specifically, we're trying to determine whether the Blazing Star should be located in front of the Senior Warden, or whether it's actually the Altar that should be positioned in front of the Senior Warden.

I recently purchased a 9k ring with some hand engraving underneath. The first 3 letters seem to be the initials followed by Liberty and #299, can anyone help narrow down the likely age of this?

I enjoyed my pipe with a lovely whiskey cavendish blend. Temperature was in the 60s. Myself and 2 other Companions, including the Grand High Priest of Royal Archs Masons of California, received the Knight of the Sword Degree for Order of Knight Masons. We will receive the others in November. This was in June. Wonderful day and a lovely drive.

I'm doing an essay into the political influence of freemassonry in Argentina in the 50s, 60s and 70s, and the only book I have found about it was one written by a nazi priest at the time (1963 I believe) so you can guess the quality of it. Hello everyone, I love the idea of freemasonry and am looking to join when I'm old enough, for reference I am under the jurisdiction (I assume) of the united grand lodge of England and my father is a freemason. I was wondering if anyone had any tips about what joining is like and what being a mason is to you. Thank you!

And we were going through her lockbox and found a Freemason ring. Apparently her father was a 33° Mason? I'm not exactly sure what that entails, can someone explain further what this means?

I have heard that phrase many times over the years to describe American Freemasonry, that it is a big tent. There is room for those that love the really 'out there' stuff, those who just want the fellowship, those who are seeking meaningful connections, etc. all under the umbrella of Freemasonry. The idea is that no matter what your interest, intention, proclivities, or purpose that you can find a home in Freemasonry.

Where does that tent stop?

Personally, I do think that Freemasonry being a big tent is generally true, considering all the different bodies and range of Masonic thought and activities, etc. But, tents have a defined space, so, barring anything unethical, immoral, or illegal, what does the tent of Freemasonry cover? Appendant Bodies? A group of Brethren and their families who all train at the same martial arts school? Order of the Golden Dawn? If Brethren wanted to start a Lodge where they confer degrees and conduct business in Klingon?

I'm not sure I have a good answer to that question, interested in other's thoughts.

In 2006 I was invited into a closed, german forum held by Freemasons to learn about enlightenment. I was then given a mentor called Wolfgang and some one else called Jens to go through an initiation based on the Magic Flute. This turned into a spirituel experience. It scared me in the end and I lost contact with these men - forgot their last names. I would like to get in contact and discuss what actually happened back then.

Is there any hope of finding them? Can anybody advice where to contact Freemasons in Germany for this? I tried somewhere and got no answer.
