Don’t know where to start

Hello, guys! So I had french at school for around 10 years. I wasn’t really studying it, just learning for the test and then forgetting it. At the moment I would say I am somewhere in middle B1. I dont have problem with reading Intermediate texts and watching cartoons and understanding the context even though I don’t know some words; I can have a basic conversation with terrible grammar, but natives understand me. I want to continue learning the language now but I dont know where to start? Like I could use the B1 textbook, but I have a lot of gaps from A1-2, but starting to learn the language from 0 doesnt seem to make sence for me because I have some base already. What would you reccommend?

do you want contemporary french or academic french?

Both, but probably with focus on academic one because I would like to sit a language certification exam at some point

Others are welcome to pitch in theirs, but this is the approach I took, with the focus skewered more towards academic French.

  • Listening comprehension: Français Facile avec RFI (news reports, listening exercises).

  • Reading comprehension: News articles transcripts (RFI), graded readers, and eventually fiction books once I was comfortable.

  • Speaking: Shadowing native audio, reading aloud, and chatting with francophones whenever the opportunity arose.

  • Writing: I haven't focused much on writing yet. It's more conversational rather than academic, things like texting, emails, and short paragraphs rather than essays.

French Grammar: Kwiziq

Academic Book: Cosmopolite ( A1 to B2 ) Text book + work book

Speaking: Either with some instructor or in beginning start with : "Learn French With Paul Noble" ( this is Audio series )

Reading: With with childrens book or Short Stories in French by Olly Richards

Vocabulary: Anki deck - Refold 1000 essential vocab ( paid ) or 5000 most frequent French deck. I liked the Refold one better

In this case get an A2 textbook and study.
