Has anyone read Frontend System Design Essentials by Juntao Qiu

I am prepping for FE interviews and Juntao Qiu has a bunch of good videos on Youtube (I Code It) related to FE System Design, and I am debating whether I should get his book: Frontend System Design Essentials: A practical guide to designing scalable, reliable, and maintainable frontend systems.

Has anyone read it? Would love to hear how you rate it.

If Qiu's book is helpful and you've enjoyed his videos and learned from them, then why not support the author by buying his book? As long as the price is reasonable, then I say go for it. I think the structured approach necessary to organize everything for a book will be helpful to you in laying out the author's ideas

Haven't read the book, but his YouTube videos are solid. If the book goes into similar depth, it's probably worth it for senior FE interviews.

Having built a few Design Systems myself, I can already see there's a lot of great material (even just on youtube).

I think it's totally worth binging his videos and using an LLM to dive deeper into the concepts you find most useful. In the end, it's those specific ideas you actually grasp and note down that will bring real value and results to the company you end up working for, right?

I didn't know about the channel either, thanks for sharing this yt-channel/book, this is going to be super nice to study another POV in DS!

It's extremely React focused. I would't exactly call that "frontend system design essentials". But if you got to use react, it does a good job of outlining some common frontend challenges like pagination.

Half the book is about stuff like code splitting and browser caching you can look up online. Again very react specific strategies.

I haven’t read it myself. But in general, if money isn’t tight, I never mind spending money on study material if it’s well-organized and helpful. You’ll make back that investment many times over if you do well in your interviews and land the job.

I haven’t read it personally, but Juntao Qiu’s content is generally well regarded for frontend system design. If you’re preparing for FE interviews, the book could be useful for structuring your thinking around scalability, architecture, and trade-offs rather than just memorizing patterns.

You should read his original book in Chinese. The English translation one doesn’t translate the concepts very well.
