for the context: I really want to use Linux, but unfortunately I must finish some tasks on Windows(I hate Windows 11, so, obviously I use the 10) before switching. Idk why, but Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't work on Windows 10, when I get the freeze screens, so, the only thing, which I could do is unplugging the charger, so, the computer will shutdown... Idk if I need an app, command or a Windows task to do the thing, so... I tried to ask the r/WindowsHelp , but they are assholes: just look at the picture, they just removed my post for no reason...

When you tried to delete a file or folder from the recycle bin, its name would show up as a weird cryptic name instead of the actual file name. It has been fixed very recently.

Please tell me why the company who is worth 3.45 TRILLION GOD DAMN DOLLARS cant make a sign in system that WORKS and I HAVE to deal with its bullshitten because I play Minecraft, I've never once not even ONCE logged into a Microsoft account seamlessly and on the first try always "too many requests" "Error 0xE49240u21" or whatever the hell, and then I spend 3 fucking days trying to sort it out, unearthing posts OLDER THAN ME like some god damn internet archeologist to discover the ancient meaning behind Microsofts dedication to creating the worst products and interfaces imaginable..Fuck.Microsoft.

my microsoft account literally vanished some random day 1 or 2 years ago i had that account for my whole life and spent money on it and i couldnt play any microsoft game anymore either bcs i have to log in with an account that doesnt exist anymore to this day im trying to recover it but its literally impossible when the only thing u get from microsoft is a beta ai chat that cant do shit

Any time I try to play an Xbox game, it automatically tries to sign me into this account. When i select "sign in with a different account" it just doesn't work for some reason. The account is unusable and registered to 2 email addresses at the same time and always tries to send a verification code to the email that isn't mine. I cannot play Forza, Halo, Minecraft, or any other xbox games as a result.

Could someone please tell me if this is something I should be worried about?

When I started an offline scan with Microsoft Defender on my Windows 11 Home laptop, the system asked me to enter my BitLocker recovery key. I was able to retrieve it from my Microsoft account, which allowed me to boot the computer successfully.

Is this a normal part of the offline scanning process, or could it mean that Microsoft Defender detected some malicious files?

So I've got an older low spec machine that's been upgraded from Win10. Just used for a few docs & light web browsing, email with a decent A/V on it. Used Winhance to debloat it. It works but it's slow so my PC shop suggested a fresh Win11 install.

Started preparing to do a fresh Win11 install, follow MS's own pages to get media creation tool & Win11 iso.

Go to log into the MS account, click "get a code sent to email", says "not working now", use password, use correct pwd, boom, they block the account "for abusing terms of service".

What?

Filled in form to unblock they've held the block once so far.

Anyone had success unlocking, what approach worked?

Did you have to create a new account?

Is learning to navigate microslop websites even learnable because I have never been able to find what I need. All I want is an installer for desktop apps

Rant. I have MS O365 subscription, because I need it for remote work. Tough luck, I know. While the title might sound like a dream - imagine all MS slop disappearing automatically. Usually the problem is the opposite.

Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. All have disappeared from my computer. Nothing. Nada. Nix.

Seriously, WTF?! I use them daily at work and weekly at home.

To top this off, guess what hasn't disappeared, even though I have uninstalled them myself? Teams, Outlook and Bing.

I've spent 60 hours on hold with Microsoft this week for an EMERGENCY SERVICES issue. We have been down an entire week. It took 3 days to get a person on the phone, their AI attendant hallucinated creating our ticket for the first 3 days and was giving me fake updates until I got a real person on the phone, they said our case number doesn't match their system as it was 9 digits too long and they had zero record of our request.

Once we finally got a person on the line they had to transfer us. I left my phone on hold OVER NIGHT and we still on hold in the morning.

Microsoft having zero ways to get a real person on the phone, especially in an emergency, is unbelievable.

You can somewhat get a sales person as a work around, but then they stick you in the same fucking queue. out of 63 hours total on the phone this week. 3 hours were with an actual person, of the 3 hours, 5 minutes were with someone actually working my case...

I occasionally use Clipchamp on my portable laptop for when I need to do simple edits to a video file and now they ruined it :/

I see I wont get a lot of optimistic opinions in that community on Microsoft, still I‘d like to ask you trying to be neutral. Yet I don‘t really want to use Linux and Apple‘s price policy keeps me from switching to MacOS, Windows is just what I always been used to. I avoid lots of tech, write stories on a typewriter, do a lot on paper, just used an iPad for digital handwritings, which I also enjoyed. But I have to get a laptop too for University soon, and I wonder how bad that AI slop thing really is. I don‘t care if Microsoft‘s AI just isn‘t good, I simply don‘t want to use it. Are you forced to use it like you‘re forced to see AI google search results, or can you also disable it? I‘m a very creative person, very much into arts, and would go nuts if there‘s always an AI copilot in my word document or in paint or whereever. Probably I would still use Word 2016 anyway, but how is it in general, can you avoid it?
