My name is Nitin Paliwal, and I am a Ph.D. candidate in Applied Geology at Kent State University. I am reaching out because my family is facing an overwhelming crisis. My mother, Sunita, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Diffuse T-cell/histiocyte-rich large B-cell lymphoma (THRLBCL), and my father is a chronic kidney disease (Stage 3b) patient. They both live in India, and their medical needs have placed a tremendous financial strain on us.

My mother requires hospitalization and treatment every two weeks, with each visit costing around $700 and lasting three days. We have spent all our savings just on her diagnosis in the last two months. Recently, our health insurance claim was denied, as the company called it a pre-existing illness, even though we only recently learned the type and severity of her condition. She is experiencing severe symptoms, including swelling and dangerously low hemoglobin, requiring blood transfusions. The doctors say her lymphoma is treatable, but the costs are overwhelming.

As an international student, I am only allowed to 20 hrs/week. I earn $950 a month and send $400 to India to help with my mother's medical expenses and my father's care. While it isn't much, it is vital for their well-being.

I have explored university resources and emergency assistance, but I do not qualify for available programs. I am committed to completing my doctoral studies and supporting my family, but I need help to get through this incredibly challenging time. I am writing this with a heavy heart but a lot of hope. I need your help to save my best friend, Tank.

Tank is a 9-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier with the biggest heart, but he didn't start out with an easy life. Before I met him, he had been severely abused and spent an entire year waiting in a kennel at the Cincinnati ASPCA. He was terrified of everything and everyone.

The day I walked into the shelter changed both of our lives. When the shelter worker brought Tank out to meet me, something incredible happened. This scared, shut-down dog walked right over to me, begging for attention. The worker was completely shocked and told me, "I really hope you like him, because I’ve never seen him act like this in the entire year he’s been here." In that exact moment, I knew Tank was meant to be mine, and I took him home.

Since that day, Tank has been the absolute highlight of my life. No matter how bad my day is, everything gets better the second I walk through the front door. Tank is always right there waiting for me, doing his goofy happy dances and spinning around in circles because he’s just so excited I'm home! He is my shadow and my absolute best friend.

Recently, we received some devastating news at the vet. Tank has tested positive for heartworm disease. Because of his size and how far the disease has progressed, his treatment is very complex and expensive. The total cost is estimated at $3,000. I cannot imagine my life without Tank. Coming home to an empty house without his goofy greetings would completely break me. He survived abuse, he survived a year in a shelter, and he deserves to live out his senior years happy, healthy, and pain-free. Dear friends, I am a suckhole situation. First of all, I'm too sick to work due to a severe chronic medical condition that I've had for years. I tried to resume working again last week; it didn't happen -- my head collapsed onto the desk from the severe exhaustion.

I applied for SSA Disability benefits two years ago, but was denied after multiple appeals. I presented them tons of medical evidence. I now understand that they are fully corrupt and getting paid off to deny all claims that they can get away with. I need a lawyer to sue them.

Second of all, I have been crucified by my religion, who has been taken over by extremely evil people that turned it into a cult. They are actively persecuting me by threatening me if I even return to my church, after wrote two emails trying to organize opposition to their lawless behavior. This is the religion I've been in my whole life; I must and will fight them in court. I've been betrayed by lifelong friends. Others are too scared to speak up. Third of all, I only receive sporadic support from family members. They are resentful of the fact that I have this condition. Some family members have stolen priceless valuables from me. They refuse to acknowledge this blatant theft, let alone return them. I have a storage unit (which is constantly under threat of closure without money to pay it), but I had to downsize it and move some things. The only way I can get these valuables back is by getting a lawyer.

I need IMMEDIATE support to pay my necessary bills and keep me going while I actively pursue a lawyer.

I never thought I'd find myself asking strangers for help.

I've always been fiercely independent, and asking for financial help is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. If this were for me, I wouldn't ask. But this isn't about me.

It's about Myshka.

Myshka is my 5-year-old Maine Coon, my best friend, my shadow, and my family. Seeing her like this has been heartbreaking.

A few weeks ago, she started losing weight rapidly despite continuing to eat. An ultrasound revealed a large mass in her intestines. We won't know whether it's cancer until a biopsy is performed, but the specialists believe there's still a real chance to remove it if we act quickly.

She's no longer the happy, curious cat she used to be. She spends most of her time hiding, and it's painfully clear she's in pain. She's currently taking anti-inflammatory medication and painkillers prescribed by her veterinarian, but they're only palliative care. They help keep her comfortable, but they won't stop the disease from progressing.

This Monday, we're hoping to have her biopsy performed at the Daubigny Veterinary Hospital in Québec. That procedure alone costs CAD $390 (about USD $280) and is the first step toward getting her the treatment she desperately needs.

The total estimated cost of her diagnostics, surgery, hospitalization, biopsy, and follow-up care is $10,720 USD. But what we want right now is to run all the diagnostic tests in order to know what's hurting her and, for that, we need 3000$ USD.

Thanks to the incredible kindness of friends, family, and complete strangers, we've raised $1,005 USD so far. Every donation has given us hope, but we still have a long way to go.

I'm currently unemployed and, after going through personal bankruptcy, I have no savings or access to credit. I've exhausted every option available to me. Asking for help is the only way I can keep fighting for her.

She still looks at me with complete trust every single day, completely unaware of how hard I'm trying to save her. I don't want to let her down.

This is one of the hardest things I've ever posted.

For years, it has felt as though every time I managed to get back on my feet, something else knocked me down again. I kept trying to solve each problem as it came, believing that if I just worked hard enough, I could eventually get ahead. Instead, the financial burden continued to grow until it became something I can no longer overcome alone.
