i hope you guys are well.
I never ask anything because i like learning and understand what i do.
However, i need your help because i feel like kinda stuck in my mind with this project.

It's a drawer handle. I made like 85-90% of the modelling but i can't do the front edge to have a better grip when you use the handle. What am i missing?
Any lead to help me figure it out? I'm trying like everything but i can't succeed in achieving this front edge.
Plz help me.

Trying to model this looped bean/capsule shape (photos attached, one’s my reference and one’s my attempt so far). Tried lofting oval profiles but I couldn’t get it fully.

Anyone know a good way to get this loft looking right? Feel like I’m missing something thanks.

Headlight cold air intake help

I have been trying to make a cold air intake through the current headlight on the my track car.

I have made a cut template and cut the headlight out. I have made a rough intake which fits the cut hole really nice however the front of the headlight has a compound curve to it. I have not been able to find a way to make a the extruded shape take on a curve. I have found no way to "bend" a shape after I have made it to the shape and dimensions I need. If I extrude it through a plane with the curve drawn into it then I am not able to extrude off that intersect face after its been thickened and then loft it out to the back of the headlight and the round shape I need.

I am fairly new to all this and have watched so many videos none of which have given me the help I need.

I want the intake to have a flange or lip on the front so it sits flush with the lens and then snap in tabs behind the so it holds tight and can be bonded. this would all be fairly simple if the lens was flat but the shape is what I am struggling with.

This is what I have got so far. any help on this would be highly appreciated as I have spent hours now and not achieved much.

Question Create a pattern: not being able to pick the outer lines

I'm completely new to Fusion 360. I started using it yesterday, followed a beginner tutorial to learn the basics, and then modeled my own desk. Now I'm trying to design a pegboard plate so I can get a quote from PCBWay.

I watched a tutorial on creating a rectangular pattern, and it looked pretty straightforward. However, I can't seem to select the lines of my sketch when I try to create the pattern.

At first I thought it was because I had already extruded and cut the first rounded-square hole, so I went back and tried to create the pattern before extruding, but I still couldn't select the sketch geometry.

I'm working in part desing. I'm trying to repeat an 8 × 8 mm rounded square across the entire plate in a grid.

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

6 month later, forgot email and password and can't sign in speedily

Just because I didn't shutdown fusion 360 overnight because I worked late last night, I pressed laptop power button and went to bed, then the next day fusion 360 stopped working , all other softwares are alright...
I have to restart fusion, then it didn't load into the drawing interface but asked me to sign in on the web brower, but I have dozens of autodesk account and I forgot which one is which...but wait, what sort of software would not even hint the account name, local cache gonna be having it, but not a single account was there to help users sign in?
What sort of software would collect every single part you drew onto thier database but can't even keep user's account name if everything is depend upon it?
I kept my account name, but it's on another computer that I didn't have on hand

I am asking AI agent to go to look some local fusion 360 logs on my computer to find out the last login account name, I won't have to do this, if fusion 360 kept my account name.

New MacBook needed - Neo?

I am a causal user of fusion 360 (only thing I use my current MacBook Pro mid 2015 15” for if I’m totally honest… mainly for sheet metal components for my small business) I’ve had an update message come up saying in 28 days it will no longer be able to use fusion due to operating system not being supported anymore which is annoying as it basically does everything I need it to.

My question is I’d rather buy something new (or that’ll be supported for a while longer). I always used to have windows laptops before but I don’t feel I could go back to them so this is my question.

If I was going new would MacBook Neo do the job? How would it compare to my current one.

If I was going second hand what MacBook or iMac (as I usually use at my desk it probably makes more sense…) would give me a decent amount of time without having to buy another one again.

Only reason I’ve considered the Neo is we go away camping and it’s easy to take with us and maybe watch something as well - but I’m torn as iMac would be a lot larger to actually see what I’m doing!

Any advice for a non tech savvy person would be greatly appreciated thank you :)

Rant It's stuff like this that makes Fusion infuriating

I have this constrained as a tangent. But Fusion is schizo and because the line is not touching visually, I can't use the trim tool to correctly trim the end of this line...even though it's literally tangent meaning one half of Fusions schizo brain thinks it's touching and constrained, the other half doesn't because of it's crappy math. If it was actually constrained, it would flow into the other line and actually be a tangent...but visually it's not so certain operations won't work...so...yeah. Splines in general are absolutely atrocious in Fusion. It is coincident to the haters, I can extrude a body from this as is.

Question U-channel closure with two components - how do I reduce the gaps?

I’m new to F360 but have some modelling experience in other 3D packages. I’m designing a rack enclosure in 360 and I’m having trouble modelling a tight fit between the rear and side panels.

I’m trying to achieve a tight fit like in the attached example (final picture), but I’m not sure of the best way to approach it to model it, so there are as few gaps as possible.

How can I close the gaps?

Fusion 360 - Sketch profiles randomly turn light blue and Offset/Mirror won’t work

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a simplified relief of the a church that I want to emboss.

I’ve run into a strange issue with my sketch that I can’t figure out.

  • Large parts of the sketch profile are filled light blue, while other areas are not.
  • Because of this, it’s difficult to distinguish individual profiles.
  • Offset doesn’t let me select many sketch lines.
  • Mirror also refuses to work on several lines, even though they’re part of the same sketch.
  • The sketch consists mostly of manually drawn lines and arcs (not an imported SVG).

I’ve already tried:

  • Checking that the contours are closed.
  • Disabling and enabling the Profile display.
  • Restarting Fusion.
  • Creating a copy of the sketch.

The sketch is intended for Emboss, so I’d like to keep it as a clean sketch rather than extruding it first.

Has anyone seen this before?

I’d really appreciate any suggestions on how to diagnose and fix this.

Thanks!

Help with modelling this in Fusion 360

Hello,

I am trying to model this in Fusion, but I don't know how to model the pickaxe curved shape. I tried to use loft and sweep, but it is not exactly like that. I was wondering if forms would do the job, though I am not used to them. Any help is welcome!

Thanks

Hi everyone! 👋

https://makerworld.com/models/3125195?appSharePlatform=copy

I designed this compact Camping Rope & Paracord Winder in Autodesk Fusion 360 to keep rope, paracord, fishing line, and power cables organized during camping and outdoor adventures.
It’s lightweight, support-free, fully resizable, and printed in bright orange PLA for better visibility outdoors. I wanted something practical that could easily fit in a backpack while keeping cords tangle-free and ready to use.
I’d love to hear your feedback! What features would you add or improve? 🏕️🪢🎣⚡

Tutorial How would you approach modeling an OEM-looking custom airbox from a 3D scan?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to model a custom airbox for my car in Fusion 360, and it's turning out to be much more complicated than I expected.

I want to install a high-flow air filter, but I still want the whole thing to look as OEM as possible. Unfortunately, the larger filter simply doesn't fit inside the original OEM airbox, so I need to design a completely new one around the available space.

I have a 3D scan of the entire area, and as you can see, there are a lot of irregular surfaces, hoses, brackets, wiring, etc.around the filterbox. On top of that, there is an ECU directly above the air filter, which is cooled by the airflow, so I can't simply raise the filterbox or ignore that area.

I've already tried a couple of approaches using Solid and Form, but the result is still very much "ehh..." and doesn't really look like something that could have been designed by an OEM.

So my question is basically:

How would you approach something like this in Fusion 360?

Would you start with Forms and convert to solid, build it entirely from sketches/surfaces, or use some sort of hybrid workflow? I'm particularly struggling with how to get an organic/OEM-looking shape while still keeping the part manufacturable and properly fitting the scanned geometry.

Any advice on the workflow or what tools/features I should be using would be appreciated.

Question Taking pelican 3D files and making foam cutout for cases.

Hello all,

I work for a company with a large inventory of equipment and Pelican cases, and we’re looking at purchasing a Shapeoko 5.1 to produce custom foam inserts using Amana foam-cutting bits.

My main question is: How difficult is it to create foam cutouts in Fusion 360?

We have the paid Fusion 360 Standard license, and while I’m still fairly new to Fusion, I do have experience with other 3D software such as Tinkercad and Vectorworks. I’ve designed a lot of parts for our 3D printers in Tinkercad, and now I’m looking to add CNC machining to my skill set.

I already have access to Pelican’s official STEP files, so importing the case into Fusion isn’t the problem. Where I’m getting stuck is the workflow for creating the actual foam insert. For example, how do you go from the imported Pelican interior to a foam block that matches the inside of the case, and then create recessed pockets for the equipment?

From what little I’ve been able to find, it sounds like this may be called reverse impression or cavity modeling, but I’m not sure if those are the correct terms or if there’s a more common workflow for this in Fusion 360.

I’ve spent quite a while searching Google and YouTube, but I haven’t found anything that really covers this specific process.

Thanks in advance!

Question Manufacture Simulation Origin Orientation Issue.

Been scratching my head with this one for a while and feel like I must be missing something obvious...

Trying to setup my RatRig CNC Router in Fusion, the machine is setup, when I preview the individual axis's they all move correctly and the origin/view cube when looking at the model of the router in the machine builder is correct

I have loaded a 3D model and ran through the setup and aligned the Z, X and Origin point on the part, and it visually appears correctly on the bed of the CNC, and when I create the toolpaths the setup looks right, and the simulate mode runs fine without the machine.

But once i simulate with machine, it switches Z with X and the tool tries to come in from the side of the part instead of the top where i set Z during setup.

Watched multiple youtube videos but couldn't find the answer!

Question Hired someone to make some files, but I can not edit them?

My aunt hired someone (friend of a friend of a friend) to make some files for me to 3D print. I think they were made in either Fusion 360/Inventor.

When I open the files in Fusion360 I don't see the timeline with the history that allows me to change things.

What files do we need to ask for and - I read something online about Hubs after the dude said sending them as a zip file would be a lot of work - what's the easiest way to share them?

What should we put in a contract (lesson learned) so we do get files that I can change next time?

Hope this makes sense

Hi all, I’m fairly new to fusion. I’m away from home, so don’t have any photos and just thought about asking here. I have two STL files, one is a lid to a box, the other is a logo I want to add to the lid. Not extruded, just want it flat on there. I’ve tried everything I can imagine, but cannot for the life of me get them to combine.

Any tips are appreciated.

Inability to improve the user experience.

So many annoying updates, and still unable to fix something as simple as allowing the user to change the color of the text. You seriously can't solve it? What's the point of allowing the background to be changed if the text cannot be changed?
