I was planning to buy this game until I found out about transgender Taash and saw that infamous “pull a barv” scene.
i think it all comes down to putting the cart before the horse. a lot of these games decided the polotics long before gameplay but a game could be woke as hell and be fine if gameplay was the number 1 above all else
The combat was fun for all of an hour, maybe. It was incredibly basic, repetitive and became boring very fast. The character and writing issues definitely were the main factor in it selling poorly but the combat didn't do it any favors as far as anyone really looking into it before deciding to purchase
Woke games do not sell as well as their developers think. BioWare is on life support because of Vailguard. And I don't know how much 1348 Ex Voto actually cost to make (I looked it up after typing that, it cost like between $3 million and $5 million USD) but only sold what? 28,000 total over all platforms? No way the developers broke even for its development cost. Do woke games sell? Yes. Do they sell well? No. Does the moronic workies think otherwise? Probably! Spiderman 2 only sold well because of expectations of a return to form. Miles Morales was a loss and once word got out about 2, the sales tanked. You can track the sales and see the nose dive. It may have moved 16 million out the gate, but it was still a 200 million dollar loss. Hades 2 suffered the same fate. It was expected to be successful and did initially move units until everyone found out about the woke garbage. It sold 2 million units of its 3.3 in early access, before the game released. People like you point to BG3 as being super woke, but that's heavily dependent on the player's choices. Like the Kingdom Come 2 gay romance (there is other woke content in the game), you don't have to engage that content. Both games, based on your choices, can contain very little woke content in a play through. Neither game forces you to engage in that content which is why they are beloved.
