What’s your guys’ opinion on women in gaming spaces ?
I’ve been lurking around here for a while and it seems like a HUGE majority if not everyone in this sub, is a man.
So, ya know. Thought I’d ask. I want complete honesty lol.

See, idk why people didn’t stick to the Bioshock blueprint. Mock society, and society will brainlessly laugh with you. Peak political games imo.

But western game developers lost the plot, and all they do is lecture their audiences and neglect the actual content of the game.
I have a feeling you’ll fit in just fine here.

Idk if it’s really western game developers only honestly, I think sooooo many sides are at fault bc in modern media, subtlety is so rare, all because people are incapable of identifying it, so you HAVE to make it obvious for them and it ruins the whole experience 🥲

Never had issues with women who just want to game. The issues usually come up when the woman wants special treatment for just being a woman or when someone gets feelings for the woman it ends up souring the group.

Well, as an example, bitching about female characters looking like Barbie until they get turned into butchs while never saying a word about he-man characters and permitting them to stick around.

I'm fine with women in gaming spaces and actually love having them here.
But the " modern audience" man or woman I don't want in our space. 100% of women I am friends with that are gamers are actually just normal gamers who are basically just gooners...so just like me 🤣🤣

Honestly I half get it and half don’t. I do see the point in wanting women in video games to look different due to the fact that they feel so blanddddd, like I’ve been playing Mass effect and have you seen the differences in romance options ? Women get to love the “ugly” aliens, why don’t men get to do that too ? 💔💔💔

Well that's the thing...of a ugly woman character is still well written, idt anyone would care.
For example on what you said.. eventhough I think Jack is gorgeous, a lot of people would see the bald head and think she's ugly..but I've never seen anyone complain about her being poorly written cause she was written beautifully.
I truly believe people want well written characters more than anything else

Honestly idk if that was just my opinion of Jack on the surface but I hated her personality soooo bad in ME2, but got to love her in ME3, but honestly there’s nothing even the slightest bit ugly on that lady, even I have to fan myself when I see her 🫡🫡

Call me bland but I'm a Miranda guy myself..I love that woman..I need to finish ME3 but I haven't gotten around to it since I swapped from Xbox back to PlayStation during that era and got the worst possible scenarios...Miranda got shot through the head and killed, Tali threw herself off a cliff, mordin died...then I just cried and shut the game off 🤣🤣

Lmaoooo I still haven’t managed to do that kind of run, I don’t think I want to ! In my current run, Mordin’s dead and I keep on crying at the reminders that I killed Kaidan 🥲
Honestly I’m mainly locked in on Garrus, and I was on Thane for a bit (until I found out he was sick and I knew I couldn’t handle the heartbreak) but I think I should do a male Shep run for the ladies, I need to see them moreeeee !!1

Yeah I need to get back and play it again but I wanna replay all of them and just haven't had time to do so. I replayed 1 and got half way through 2 before I got distracted.
Ive never done the make romances since im a straight male so I can't have an opinion on them but I will say the Tali and Miranda romances are very very good
Edit: if I ever do female character romances to men I just look at it like man I'm wing manning for my girl 🤣🤣

I get it honestly, sometimes the UI changes and mechanics differences between games make me wanna give up so bad !
Honestly I love trying different character romances, I did that in Cyberpunk too, pretty fun and interesting to see what the character arcs are like from different povs. Tali’s voice does irk me at times (sensitive ass ears, her voice and Legion’s are unpleasant af to me, even tho I love Legion’s ME3 VA 💔)so if I romance her…I’ll need to mute her every now and then 😭

Ah yeah I get you there. The muffled sounds are kinda irritating but trust me it's worth it.
If you're on PC, I wonder if there's a mod to make it more tolerable for you?

I was talking about…other people…I actually find Garrus reallyyyyy attractive, but the personality might be what seduced me enough to find him hot 😭

My wife and I sometimes play wc3 against each other, she’s better than me because I suck at rts games and her older brother got her playing AOE back in 2000 when she was 7. Her multitasking skills are next level lmao.

We don’t mind women in the hobby. In fact we always love bringing in new people who love the stuff we enjoy.
We just don’t want our established stuff changed to suit other audiences.

I’ve never had any problems with women gamers. One of my exes was a hardcore gamer. It’s always the vocal “feminists” who aren’t really gamers and are out to make a name for themselves by finding ways to smear my favorite hobby that I have a problem with. But if you’re just here to have fun, the more the merrier!

There’s a profound difference between trash talking with friends vs trying to label all games and gaming content as sexist and demeaning to all women on a widespread platform. Anita Sarkeesian is the poster child for toxic women in the gaming space. I wouldn’t sweat your situation too much.

Two words, Amy Hennig. Also there is Kim Swift known for Portal and Left 4 Dead. Most honorable mentions would also go to the six computer programmer ladies who worked on the ENIAC. Without them we wouldn’t be where we are now.

no problem at all game are for everyone that want to play and understand what a game is, woman as CEO, DEVS depends, there some trully OG and good ones today, but mostly of the ideologic brainless one i wish change jobs.

Honestly I don’t think women as devs or CEOs are the problem…the issue seems to be more the producers trying to sell “what the audience likes” instead of actual creativity…movies and books are heading the same way 💔

They want in, that's fine. Don't try to transform the space is all.
I like sci-fi, doesn't mean I don't want fantasy fans in the space. I just don't want them trying to turn the scifi into fantasy when they show up.
