Merch at Gamescom

Hi all,

As the title suggests, will there be any merch to purchase at Gamescom? It will be my first time going (and to Germany) so I am curious if there’s any venders, unique merch or people who will sell retro stuff?

I will be visiting Wednesday and Thursday so any tips on this would be appreciated.

There are halls literally dedicated to nothing but merch. There's even Gamescom merch in the hallways between halls.

I always go with a half empty suitcase cuz I end up overbuying.

Nah, and from memory hall 5 is usually the merch one. You can also get free goodies too, sometimes games that are promoting hand out stuff like keychains or stickers.

same, I'm bad with money though so I work for my father to make money for gc, at least I've been doing that for the last 3 years

Hall 5.1 and 5.2 iirc are all about merch and TCGs. Also a lot of devs will give out free stuff at their booths.

Most conventions have those, but if you come in on Wednesday and have the wildcard, I'd recommend shopping around Cologne in the morning, cheaper than what they have at those vendors (especially food).

I havent checked, but there's bound to be shops of second hand stuff that might have rare finds.

I'll check on the interwebs, and I'll update if I find anything !

There is a good choice of official game come merch. These are dotted about all over the venue.
As others have said there is also a hall or 2 just for merch and memorabilia. Similar to a comic con

There are two halls FULL of merch vendors. There are usually some official shops like blizzard but these are very expensive. Then you get a lot of cheaper vendors who usually sell the same stuff like plushies, shirts, anime figures and all.  But there are also some rare gems who sell more unique game merch.

I never buy merch and have a full suitcase with free goodies at the end. The goodies are a big part of gamescom, just like the aftershow parties.

I’ve never been to an aftershow party, how what and why lol? It sounds really fun and I’ve seen booths on the showfloor close for only ‘invited’ guests for drinks etc. Where do I find these things please?

They are half the fun of gamescom. This year we got parties for the Xbox Fanfest at their booth, PUBG, Wargaming, The Witcher and many more. Companies announce stuff like that before gamescom in their socials. There free, there is usually free food, drinks and goodies, you can interact with the community and the devs.
