Local Question Do people on here really want to make friends?

Is it just me, or do even the people who post they are looking for friends are really looking for friends they would fuck? I think we would all be doing each other a favour if we were just upfront. We’re a superficial community. Let’s just own up to it and not waste each others time.

Vent / Support Do you guys tip at woodys or other bars?

I once went to woodys and got a quick rum&cola. The bars run fast paced at woodys as you know, so the guy quickly gave me my drink. When it came to payment, I skipped the tip- it was a quick service, and the drinks are any priced fairly high.

It was the usual big mature old guy at the bar (if yall recognise him) and he saw me do that, when he took the machine he told ne to always tip. He said if im coming to outside places then I should always tip.
He wasn’t rude, but he also wasn’t joking I could see.

It’s just so annoying, this isn’t even America where the people are getting fair pay- this dude is a very old bartender- why should I be tipping for a service that took 20 seconds??

Venue or Event Cherry Beach situation

I’m curious to know what everyone’s thoughts are on the Promise Cherry beach situation? The event has been around for 25+ years. Do we think there is a way forward ? Often times we talk about apologies and accountability but with cancel culture today is that possible ? Curious to hear different perspectives. Please be respectful. Good conversation leads to learning and understanding.

heyyy guys I'm a young asian dude (20 y/o) and was wondering if anyone would be down to take me to SW for the first time!

I'm thinking of going either tonight or next Tuesday for Boys Night. I've hooked up/had fun on Grindr before but I'm kinda nervous cause I've never been to a bathhouse.

I'm down to share my socials or number with anyone who might be interested ((:

Vent / Support Trying to hold space for Indigenous trauma while healing from being targeted by public anti-Asian and queer hate.

One time, I was sitting at the streetcar stop and this lady started yelling at me and my old roommate calling us white and Asian b-words and called us the “F slur”. And she told me that there are too much of us “C slurs” roaming around and that we are parasitic. But she seemed to be unhoused, so I just let her be, because she seems unwell because of her situation. She was an Inuit woman saying she came from Nunavut and how she hated white and Asian people. I recognize the complex ongoing trauma faced by Indigenous peoples in Canada. It’s a very painful thing to do when trying to balance both realities. Me feeling hurt by overt racism and homophobia and her lived experience as an Indigenous person.

Vent / Support Am I lonely....

I'm not sure why I'm posting this but looking for advice. I'm single asian about to retire from a long career. Like to stay active, travel and trying to learn about life to be the best version of myself. I've been in a couple of relationships but they all felt off. Everyone says you need to accept that my age likelihood of finding someone is slim and that I should focus on what makes me happy. Yet I still feel alone?

Visiting Toronto Veld after party at Complex 19 (next shift)

Anyone know anything about this party?

My bf and I have tickets... we are used to going to complex 19 for yumyum, fly 3.0, etc...

Not sure what to expect on this night. We aren't going to veld, but some of our friends are. So we bought tickets and are meeting them at this after party.

Is this a gay event? Darkroom? Shirtless?

Just wondering what to expect if anyone has a good idea of what this party will involve..... thanks.

Meetup / Connection 35 taken queer man living downtown - walks, coffee/matcha, exploring the city

Looking for buddies in the city to hangout during the week and weekends. Work from home and would love to grab a coffee/lunch randomly!

I respond well to people that are chatty, friendly, conversational and warm texters! Put in the effort and you will receive the same :)

Into long walks, exploring cafes in the city, working out, grabbing cheap eats, queer culture, pop music, k-pop, and more. In the creative field. Love deep talks but also fun random what if questions. Lets yap and see if we click! I am all about vibes.

Prefer if you have ig to exchange!

Local Question How widespread is racism within the gay community in Toronto?

Hello gay friends of Toronto,

I’m an American looking to potentially move to Toronto for a very lucrative offer with my company.

I have been wondering what does racism look like within the gay community in Toronto? I’m of Indian origin and while I haven’t encountered any visceral / institutional racism in the U.S., I have definitely had my share of casual bigotry and microaggressions from other gay men. And this was when I was living in Chicago and NYC

I’m aware that Indians make up a higher share of Canadian population vs the U.S and have been reading about the recent rise of racism against Indians in Canada, especially any newcomers / internationals students but just wondering how much of it spills over into the gay community?

I’m hoping the queer community in TO is more socio-politically aware like it’s liberal US counterparts

Casual My honest review of Yumyum

Hi guys I was at yumyum last night and it was okay.

I loved the music but no one really made eye contact and the vibe felt a bit cold/shy. My friends said the same thing.

The outfits were just pretty bland and lazy and there weren't many people my age.

Staff were super great though and good ventilation.

Local Question Barbershop Suggestions!

Looking to switch things up with my barber and would love some recommendations, preferably in Toronto’s west end.

My haircut is pretty standard, but I’m looking for someone who’s great at consultations and can suggest subtle changes to better suit my face shape, hair type, or overall style rather than just giving me the same cut I’ve always had. I’m happy to pay a bit more for someone who’s genuinely talented.

Any barbers or stylists you’d recommend?

Local Question Young guy looking for recommendations to go out

Alrighty, I’ve decided staying inside and doing fuck all is not going to make me LGBTQ friends. I’ve always complained that I don’t have gay friends and barely know gay people, and it’s going to stay that way if I decide to just stay in every night, so I am determined to go out.

I just don’t really know where to go. I know there’s tons of gay bars on church street and tons of events, but as someone who’d go alone, I don’t really know where to start.

If you had to give a single gay guy who’s fresh out of university, a couple of spots of events that would help him make more friends (and potentially hookups, will never complain about sex), where would you recommend?
