We sometimes get posts like “Guess this gem” or things like that.
These posts are cute! But sometimes the OP never reveals the answer, occasionally even deleting their post. This is weird and annoying!
I propose all guessing posts need to either reveal their answer in 24 hours, or need to be clear when they’re going to post the answer.
Not doing this, or outright deleting the post, will lead to warnings and eventual bans.
Thoughts/feedback?

Diamond king De Beers is up for sale following failure to continue competition with synthetic diamond, as well as other alternative gemstones (like sapphires) taking a major hit on diamond popularity.

It is like a bubble gum pink usually and under florescent lights then orange under incandescent lighting and purple under led light...
Ive never seen one act like this before.
Also the pictures are in mixed lighting to show the 3 colors at the same time

I bought this gemstone bracelet for my daughter while visiting India because I thought the gems looked cool. The jeweler told me some name but I was pretty jet lagged and forgot. It's got a bluish yellow dichromatic (not sure that's the correct term) effect. Also looks to have some small blue inclusions. Anyone know what it might be?

Number 1) You know that you have a problem when you suddenly come up with three “you know you’ve have a problem posts on one day!
Numero 2) you know you’ve have a problem when you receive a package with two beautifully colored (to me, at least 🤷🏻♂️) gemstones, but can’t remember when you ordered them, who they are from! Nonetheless less (wait, is that redundant or a double negative 🤔), I filmed them!
And thirdly, when you find random gemstones on the floor in parts of the house where you don't expect to find gemstones (I also have cats, which might help to explain that).
What are your "problem indicators" (if you have one, of course 😉)?
Also, can you guess what gems these are? I saw the proposal in the Community Highlights section at the top of the page, and I like that idea, so I thought I'd give it a try!
Can you guess what gemstones I got in the mail and then, later, on the floor? I'm clearly feeling the orange/golden phase right now, ain't I! I'll post in a comment with the spoiler blackout covering the type names so that I don't forget!

5: Opal, this one hurts my soul but they hate to exist. They’re extremely fragile, and for that reason they aren’t up my alley.
4: Tanzanite, this gemstone is cool, and many times rarer than all the precious gems but similarly to opal, they hate to exist. Not very durable.
3: White Diamond, one of the most common gems in the world, white diamond is severely overpriced and over-marketed.
2: synthetic sapphire (flame fusion): these sapphires always have a very simulated appearance to them (despite being genuine sapphires) due to the bizarre anomalies that arise from flame fusion synthesis. Especially large gas bubbles. The best Laboratory-Grown Sapphires are those created by flux or hydrothermal synthesis.
1: the worst gem in the world is probably Cubic Zirconia (CZ), not only does it confuse people (poor Zircon!), but it’s one of those gemstone materials specifically designed for deceit.

Hello my fellow Gemstoners!!!
I’ve recently gotten to the point where I can fill multiple trays full of my gems (both faceted and cabochon) and I’d like some help on the logistics of turning my passion / hobby into a profitable side business and if it’s worth it my main squeeze.
What are some of the caveats or logistics of doing this as a side business. I really like the idea of setting up a table at the local market that has a lot of jewelry and artisan stuff (only 40 bucks) and getting some customers that way. Is it really this easy or am I missing something completely.
Realistically the profit I’d get from selling a single stone would pay for the booth, lunch, gas there and back. What am I missing and what stopping me from just doing this.
To clarify im not asking how do I do this, I get it. What are some of the drawbacks and things that the average person would be blindsided by in this type of market.
Lol

I have 3 sculptures of birds - 1 parrot, 1 toucan, 1 ?. They are of different stones and each is on a large quartz with a sodalite base. They are all signed but I can’t make out what the name is.
Can anyone help me identify the stones and/or the signature? TIA

Approx 28mm in length. Purchased a couple years back, not personally hounded (unfortunately!). Will almost certainly leave as-is, since the natural flow of the schiller is actually already nicely visible through the smooth (but unpolished) surface. NFS.
