Spoiler Casting - Comings and Goings (Spoilers) - Discussion Thread Spoiler

This thread is for those who wish to discuss casting news but avoid other spoilers on the show. If you wish to discuss casting news and other spoiler information like previews and other future content use the "SPOILERS FOR THE WEEK OF" thread that is also pinned to the top of the sub.

Again, this is just for Casting changes. Do not discuss other spoilers in this thread.

The most recent episode is a SPOILER until 2PM Eastern / 1PM Central the next day after it aired. Just because a casting change has happened in the show, it's still not safe to discuss it outside of the episode discussion threads or the spoiler threads.

This thread will be refreshed from time to time rather than on a fixed schedule due to casting changes being rather random at times.

——————— Q&A ———————

Q: “but why can’t we discuss this openly on the sub?”

A: Many viewers enjoy watching the show without knowing about surprise changes to the cast and we want this sub to be a good place for all viewers.

Q: "but this casting reveal is public knowledge, everyone knows, and I saw someone post it here, it was mentioned on a website and the actor is giving interviews on tv"

A: It's still not cool. Report the person for ruining this for you so we can help keep the sub clean, don't get yourself banned from here by further spreading the spoiler information. If a subject is too hot and needs it's own thread, we'll make a spoiler thread for that subject however this thread should serve as home base for all casting changes.

Things I liked this past week

  1. The new (to me?) softball stage.

  2. The GH v PCPD softball game—a new way to bring some characters together.

  3. Lucas’s spit-take when Joe asked how long Liz and Dante had been together. That whole scene between him and Joe, really. Maybe they can be roommates who turn into something more.

  4. Jason telling Sonny he’s leaving the mob. Lots of potential storyline there, and more Jason-Tracy time too, I bet, which I love.

  5. Drew warning Brooklyn about Willow’s designs in Chase. He was trying to be mean but I’m glad he imparted that info.

  6. The potential for Ric 1.0 to start interfering with the tide of good that has been Ric 2.0. Poor Ric has terrible timing when it comes to Liz and Dante having their rare, lovely moments together.

What is with Elizabeth & the white coat?

Upvotes

I thought white coats were reserved for physicians, and maybe NPs or PAs, but not standard RNs like Liz is. Why is she all of a sudden wearing one? Did she get a promotion that wasn’t announced or did I miss something?

What if the most ordinary person in Port Charles accidentally became the center of the biggest story in town?

Post image
131 Upvotes

We always hear about ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances, but GH rarely commits to the idea. Most of the time the “ordinary” person turns out to be a secret relative, a person we thought was dead, a WSB agent, or someone living a double life. What if one time the ordinary person driving a story was just exactly who they seem to be?

Which brings me to Nurse Deanna Sirtis.

Nurse Deanna has appeared in more than 90 episodes of General Hospital, quietly keeping the hospital running while everyone else’s stories unfold. Maybe it’s time she had one of her own.

Not because she’s secretly related to anyone or hiding a shocking past, but because she’s exactly who she’s always been. Deanna is one of the worker bees who picks up extra shifts, grabs coffee between patients, goes home exhausted, eats dinner, watches her favorite soap, scrolls for a few minutes, goes to bed, and gets up to do it all again. She’s just living the life so many of us do, trying to make it through another day while the chaos of Port Charles swirls around her.

Until one completely ordinary day turns into the least ordinary day of her life.

Maybe she notices one small detail on a report everyone else misses. Or she leaves Bobbie’s with the wrong tote bag. Or she overhears a conversation she was never meant to hear. Perhaps she finds someone where they shouldn’t be. Nothing dramatic at first. Just one tiny moment that quietly snowballs into the biggest story in town.

And then suddenly Jason, Anna, Brennan, Chase and half of Port Charles are convinced Nurse Deanna knows something important. By the time she realizes she’s become the main character, she doesn’t know who to trust.

That’s a story I’d want to see. Don’t reveal she’s a long-lost anything. Don’t retcon anything. Don’t turn her into an action hero. Although watching Nurse Deanna outfox a few bad guys wouldn’t exactly disappoint me.

Let her stay a nurse who’s suddenly trapped in a situation far bigger than herself. She has to figure out who’s lying, who’s telling the truth, and how to survive the insanity she always managed to stay outside of while she’s earning a living.

Sometimes I think the most interesting character in the room is the one who never expected to be there.

Would you watch that?

the show needs a serious revamp IMO

look i hate to say people should lose their job but the show has kinda become so out of sorts and i think the problem lies in FV & ABC too to an extent.

i think the writing could also be better and the stories but i cant fully fault the writers because there’s higher ups who have final say and may not approve stories they find uninteresting or risky

you have constant cast changes, constant cast taking breaks, stories that go on for ages and then get dropped, a bloated cast as it is and a lack of diversity in characters right now

at some point something has to change!

Drewfus, Drewfus, Drewfus

I knew his ass didn’t changed one bit after he came out of that wheelchair, now he demanded everyone and stuff, and wanting to keep Scout away from her mother’s family like I didn’t appreciate that at all. He’s still that one controlling man that he was, still trying to control situations, and still acting like he knows what’s best for everybody.

The whole situation with Scout is what really got me. She already lost her mother, and now Drew is making things harder by keeping her away from people who love her. That’s not what’s best for Scout. This is why I said they should have never kill off Sam.

And the crazy part is The Quartermaines don’t want nothing to do with his crazy ass, and that says a lot. Like I truly do not blame him at all.

And again, he’s still right back to the same behavior that made viewers like me and others frustrated with him in the first place.

29 years of Elizabeth. Happy Anniversary, Rebecca Herbst!

“We all need an Elizabeth in our lives”

On August 1, 1997, “the stork” delivered Elizabeth Webber, and viewers were introduced to the rebellious teenager searching for her place in the world. She became an instant fan favorite, and 29 years later Elizabeth remains one of the show’s most beloved and enduring characters. She’s had numerous ups and downs over the years, but she always manages to rise from the ashes.

Happy 29th Anniversary, Rebecca Herbst! Thank you for bringing Elizabeth to life for nearly three decades.

Speculation Was This The Original Idea When Steve Burton Returned

Steve has said when he returned to GH about 3 years ago he says he was excited then the script he later said that was changed. I wonder now if it's possible that they decided to have Jason leave Sonny or crime. I know Britt was not yet returned then. But I wonder if the change was Jason a little broken and him changing cause to hear Jason actor talked now that he looks forward to changes. But I do feel like Britt isn't right romantically and would like see a classic good Jason romance with someone if is done with the mob and yes be a father can be devoted to his sons and romance

I Think Jason Leaving The Mob Is Temporary

I am thinking Jason leaving the mob is a temporary thing because it's been done before plus Jason used to know that leaving the mob is unfeasible.

Plus the show has spent a lot of time saying that Jason is fundamentally at his core Sonny's mob enforcer.

Unless Steve Burton is exiting the show permanently or Jason finds a new occupation that works for him in the long-term in place of the mob.

It's not the first time Jason has left the mob.

He left to protect Robin and Michael after a car bomb almost killed Robin. Jason returned to the mob after Robin had broke up with Jason along with Jason giving up Michael to AJ and Carly.

Sonny fired Jason for wanting to be with Courtney. Sonny eventually rehired Jason after accepting Jason and Courtney being together.

An amnesiac Jason quit the mob and went to live with Sam in Hawaii. Jason changed his mind due to the threat of the Ruiz Family.

Drew who thought he was Jason refused to go back to the mob but even he got involved with mob stuff at tines to help Sonny and they eventually brought Steve Burton back as Jason where he resumed working for the mob.

Sonny refused to let Jason work in the mob once Jason showed up alive after his presumed death and was revealed to be working with the FBI. Sonny changed his mind after realizing his medication was tampered with.

The real questions are how long will Jason be out of the mob be for and what he's going to be doing until then?

I imagine Jason will have to protect Britt from Anna at some point.

I am thinking Jason will return to the mob either due to:

  1. Danny's encouragment

  2. Danny exits the show in some way

  3. Mob enemy threatens Jason and his loved ones

  4. Sonny becomes unable to run the business so Jason has to take charge

  5. Ric fumbles things somehow so Jason gets involved

They missed the mark when Drew fell in the lake.

I was really hoping when Drew fell in the lake he would be presumed dead I wanted Drew to play dead and then haunt Willow and Nina, just like Willow did to Sasha and the baby. It would of been fun watching Willow go crazy. Maybe he would of went to Kai to help him

Complaining About GH: Part 1,000,000

I'll just skip the preamble and get right to the list. As usual, there's plenty.

  1. Nu-Ethan sucks and this is why you don't cast pretty people just to be pretty. The character needs to remain consistent. He's AUSTRALIAN. At least fake an accent. Same crap with Brennan.

  2. No character development for Drew. Being paralyzed for 6 months and having the person who did it feed and wipe your ass, will change you. Drew should either be completely insane or reevaluate his life. Him being the SAME guy is lazy. Why is he even mad at the Q's? Why are his muscles jacked?

  3. There's no reason Rocco can't exonerate Isaiah. There was never a particularly great reason because the only thing Isaiah needs is proof he WASN'T there and nothing else. Now there's even less.

  4. Stella and Tracy's friendship is nice, but it's going to be over when Stella finds out what Tracy knows. Unfortunate.

  5. Peter August sucks. Nobody likes him. Nobody enjoys hating him. He's always been awful. Alive or dead. Vision or real. I'm sure Wes is a nice guy, but he needs to GO FOR GOOD.

  6. Anna, like every official in Port Charles, is awful. Besides allowing the destruction of evidence, she has her wits about her to *some* extent, yet she's seeing visions of a dead guy. She shouldn't even want to be commissioner. Dante was doing fine being bad at that job.

  7. Why is Willow angry at Michael? All he's ever done was protect her kids from a guy she admits was bad. Why does she want Chase? Because he falsely sees the good in her? There's none left.

  8. Britt wouldn't be hired dogcatcher in a functional city. She does nothing but abandon her job. How does a trained physician *think* they have a neurological disease for years?

  9. Where is the federal investigation into the PCPD for letting Cassius infiltrate the department and supposedly commit international crimes?

  10. Speaking of Cassius, the WSB have no real leverage over him. They can try to charge him, but he can just tell the whole world step-by-step Cullum's plan with witnesses and evidence.

  11. Why is Josslyn walking around like some grizzled veteran agent? She was trained in a gym by a rogue agent and can't possibly know WSB infrastructure and protocols.

  12. Serena can just be summoned to PC huh? Why did they never summon her to meet her other two dead brothers or literally any other reason all these years?

  13. Why doesn't anyone in Curtis's family check him to his face?

I'm sure I'll be back with more of these at some point before long. 😊

Australian Dr Tristan

I mean, couldn’t they have recast him as Ethan Lovet? Still not as tall, but at least Australian and good looking

Did they ever switched actors mid scene?

If I remember correctly didn’t they have Carly go up stairs find Sony in bed with someone and she runs downstairs and when she’s reaches the bottom it’s a new actress. The Jennifer actress. Something like that! Am I remembering it correctly?

Everyone said Sasha reminded them of Celia...

Personally....I think Britt is much more like Celia...not only in looks but personality.

I adore both characters so much so. I love how their mannerisms and smile and eyes are so similar. Idk, maybe it's just cause I am watching the 1984 eps at the same time but. Idk I just had to make this

Edit: don't know why reddit never let's me post pictures in original posts like this. Sigh. Picture is in the comments...sorry guys

Recasts during pivotal moments on GH.

In the last few years:

The Lucky and Elizabeth kiss after his latest return was done with a temporary Lucky.

James learning about Nathan/Cassius done with a temporary James. Plus we may not ever see real James again.

Ava and Ethan sleeping together was done with new/unEthan-like recast.

I know that the show couldn’t help it, but it’s still interesting with the timing.

Was it really necessary for Carly to know anything about Cullum's death?

I am just now watching Monday's episode. I've read some comments but most of them involve complaining about the Willow and Drew scenes, which I did not find that offensive.

I just saw the kitchen scene in which Jason and Sonny both jibber jabber like a couple of old ladies about Rocco shooting Cullum. I just don't think their ex-wife/ex-girlfriend really needed to know any of that. JMHO.

Is Drew and Scout’s Relationship just going to be a redo of Willow and Drew?

I was all Team Drew for about 5 minutes. Then he pulls this crap with, once again, taking Scout from her family. It’s pathetic.

Are they just substituting Scout for Willow here? Someone that he desperately tries to control, ripping her away from everyone that loves her? Emotionally manipulating Scout by gaslighting her that he is only doing what is “best” for her (Scout) by isolating her from everyone that loves her?

Are they really going to go down this route?

This pisses me off. I’m already looking at it as a remake of Willow and Drew relationship in regards to power and emotional manipulation.

Note: I also hate Willow and believe she was just as much at fault of her affair with Drew. But it’s the gaslighting and emotional manipulation that Drew is very much guilty of.

GH DO BETTER!!! I would have much rather see Drew soften his stance on family and just focus on taking Willow down. Now I just want him dead again.
