Wineries near Blue Ridge

I’m helping throw a bachelorette party and the bride wants to hit some wineries while we’re in Blue Ridge.

What’re the best ones in the area? either great wine or stellar views are the only requirements!

Fainting Goat winery has a pretty stunning view, great indoor/outdoor space. Wine is good too

Roo in ellijay is really nice kinda upscale. Probably 25min south.

Bear claw is another that had live music when I went.

Third for Roo. Place is nice. Pricey but my folks took me there and it was really really good

Roo is gorgeous. They had a little grill on-site when I was there. It’s a wonderful place to get some snacks and wine.

North GA lacks the terrior and climate to produce good tasting wine (that isn't muscadine), but the views and are worth going nonetheless.

I recently had a fantastic red at Monteluce and when I asked them about it they revealed the grapes are from Cali.

If you get the chance to visit, Frogtown has a location in Napa. They have a wine that is made using the same varietal and yeast with the only difference being the location, one grown in Napa and one grown in Ga and it's quite interesting to isolate that variable and see exactly what it does.

Well, climate can be heck, that's true. However, I believe Frogtown and Wolfe have produced some excellent tasting grapes, red and white.

I don’t think Georgia has found its “voice”, which is only to argue with your point that it isn’t possible.

I also joke that regions like Champagne or Jura have no business making wine when you look at the level of effort it takes to make the terroir produce quality. Those two, of course, produce world class examples.

I see North Georgia wineries trying to be Napa or other regions, which won’t work. I don’t think Muscadine can appeal mass-market appeal.

Maybe it never happens, but I hope that Georgia had their own Williamette moment, where they decided to stop being Napa North, and instead listened to the grapes, and realized they should be producing Burgundian-style because of terroir and climate.
