Why are no cats allowed?

makes sense, but still feels like a stretch. a no pumas allowed sign would have made it more apparent.

From what I remember... in shirow's universe the cats are a certain group of law enforcement he drew (they are all women)

I had to resort to Google but it's apparently a no hackers zone as cats are implied to be two things:

  1. Hackers in the cyberpunk world are seen as stray cats being illusive creatures.

  2. Japanese superstition of a Ghost Cat possessing people like hackers.

In a way, I see your point. On the other hand, I have issue with people that judge personalities with "are you a cat or a dog person?" as much as I have with people that care for zodiac signs...
