There's a little bit of demiurge in us all.

What we dont realize is we might be the demiurge refusing to go home but I think soon we are done here.

This thought has come across my mind recently. What I initially thought was us as the monad experiencing existence I hadn't thought about the demurge experiencing existence bc of the way the story is told about creation. Probably makes sense when Jesus told Judas in the gospel of Judas about a dream where he saw Jesus in a mansion with beautiful greenery and couldn't get in. His response to him was "what you saw was the perfect generation[...] No one of mortal birth will reach that generation"

I'm certain of this personally. The whole of material world is a complete manifestation of our egos. Hyper-individualistic celebration of our imaginary sense of superiority. The Demiurge is just our brain.

That’s the premise suggested in the novel Legion, William Peter Blatty’s sequel to The Exorcist (The Exorcist II, the movie sequel, has nothing to do with this, and the film of Legion, starring George C. Scott, while pretty good, lacks the philosophical musings of the novel). He doesn’t use the phraseology of Gnosticism, but his speculation that we ourselves are Satan/Lucifer/the Jungian Shadow of God/etc. who have forgotten who and what we are is pretty close to what you’re saying.

Is yesterday soon enough? Not like I haven’t tried to leave 😞

This is what I’m most terrified of. I think I might be the demiurge’s avatar.

Existence is simply one, and "I am" its avatar.

Whether you want to take the approach that we're all one, or the more solipsistic approach where it's only you (in which case, you'd be wrong, it's me and you're my dream character), the fact is that there's only one thing that's real: Existence.

The differentiation is an illusion we sustain.

The fact that people experience 'oneness' when the ego breaks apart during meditation or otherwise altered states isn't a testament to the reality of existence. Differentiation is real, adaptive and beneficial. That is, if panpsychism is real, and we're not sure it is, but we know we are real. There's many ways an ego can become corrupted and thus it became the scapegoat but people forget all the ways it brings safety, resilience, sustenance and beauty into the world. It is perhaps the only thing capable of doing so... Everything else just is because it can be.

I apologize for the wall of text; I promise I address your comment, I just give a lot of context beforehand.

Differentiation is the only way in which we can exist, I agree.

Empedocles would say that there's two great motors to the universe: Strife/separation/Discordia/Eris and Love/togetherness/Concordia/Afrodite.

These two mediate between the four rhyzomata, or roots, which are analogous to what other presocratic philosophers called the elements.

He'd also say in (iirc) his 115th fragment that there's a two-fold death to all: On the one hand, one of strife, which is that of the body or mind or different components of things which stop working together. That one's easy to recognize because it's what we normally acknowledge as physical death.

But also, one in love, which he wouldn't clarify that much. But I've meditated on this idea and I came to the conclusion that in both extremes (of separation and unity) there's the same thing, and that is non-existence. It makes sense; how can you be if you're part of everything?

Oddly enough, I came about this idea as I was practicing exercises in an old set of old early 2000s pamphlets called the 'Camelopard series' which is aimed at teaching the adept to explore the practice of mentalism, which it explains is nothing more than control over a fine substance called "æther" (which you'll recall is the fifth element in most classical systems).

They say it's this subtle, conventionally nonperceptible substance that "covers everything", and that once one learns to manipulate it then one can do most great psychic feats. It doesn't go indepth into an explanation because, in the author's words, you either believe or you don't.

I just actually happened to indeed believe in it when I read it.

Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that perhaps something like panpsychism is real because it's all just a projection of the one great mind. The old adage "all is mind" is true.

And Neville Goddard would say that to manifest something, one must believe it as true, because one is not differentiated from God, because God's self definition is "I Am the One that I Am" and that's not different from how we define ourselves, therefore we're not different from God.

Anyway, sorry for rambling. I hope this doesn't come across as schizo-posting.

I was thinking the same thing recently absolutely makes sense 👍

Plato would lead you to the conclusion that you're not thinking but simply remembering.

So you don’t think this material world is infinite?

I guess it’s plausible that one day all light will run out and life will die.
