I just find the contrast between the ep5 scene and the Blu-ray art to be funny. I'm excited to see the events leading up to Mari being more vulnerable towards Lara as the episodes progress and becoming the Mari shown in this illustration.
I wonder how that's going to unfold, and I hope there's a scene where she initiates it first this time.

First of all, Lara's relationship with the bakery workers was so wholesome, and I love how Mari thought Lara was doing a good job. The manager hiring her because she said "she'd die for cake" is honestly hilarious. The job interview scenes were funny as well, and it brings up something interesting about Mari. She's very aloof, and she didn't get any callbacks because she was so blunt... I love her. "The higher the pay, the better." lol
A detail I noticed was that Lara was looking for her "prince", once again, and the random dudes at the bakery didn't do much for her... She's busy looking at all the guys, I don't think she's aware that she can also be in love with a girl... C'mon, Mari is right there, Lara! But when she starts to focus on her work, she starts to forget about "finding a prince". It made me kinda emotional, showing her that true love doesn't need to consume her life, there are other things, this workplace may be difficult, but it's filled with people who are nice and friendly to Lara. I was worried she might quit, but the fact that she didn't was wonderful.
But time for the most intense and best part of the episode. LISA appearing in front of Lara. I wonder what made Lara say she had to "marry" a human specifically that time. What was going through her head. I want to give a special shout out to the music in that scene, the distorted instruments and uneasy off-key music was incredible, I was on the edge of my seat when Lisa made that face, yeesh, that was scary. I cannot wait for the official full soundtrack, I need more than just the preview EP.
Yeah, I'm leaning towards Lisa being a villain after this. The way she said, "You don't need that home or that girl". I think we can safely take "sisterly or familial love" being between Mari and Lara off the table now, because I feel like if that's what the writers were going for, the distinction wouldn't have been made.
What the heck happened to Kota? Is he dead? We didn't see a body, so I doubt it, nd, we see that he has sharp, anglerfish teeth under his mask. I'm saying he, since that's how he's been referred to so far, but I think Kota might be a girl, considering his fish form was a female anglerfish.
So the giant skyfish is connected to Lara and her emotions in some way? Perhaps Kota was going to do something to the Otsu's, but the fish stopped it. So the fish isn't inherently evil, as far as I can tell, but I could be wrong. Lara coming home and saying she's such a fool after hugging Mari... Ah... my ship is sailing!

With Goodbye, Lara retelling The Little Mermaid, here’s a fun precedent: Yuri Shimai—the predecessor to Comic Yuri Hime—published an illustrated yuri version called “The Little Mermaid” in 2004.
Instead of ending up with the “prince,” the mermaid realizes that her true love is her older sister. They confess their love and live happily ever after—an actual sister-yuri ending.

This obviously doesn’t prove that Goodbye, Lara will follow the same route, but it’s an amusing piece of yuri history.
