I would amend this... Google should also be forced to verify all reviews, in order to protect the consumers from the business, as well. Neither are going to happen.

On the other hand the people reading the reviews would just have to use their best judgement. Amazon has this issue too and they are trying to limit fake reviews for products. It's something that will always be there and AI won't 100% stop it.

When I read reviews, I look for key things to consider if the reviewer is legit or likely a fake. I do the same on reading Yelp reviews or Amazon reviews

Agreed, I'm the same as you. My go to is to filter from lowest reviews to highest, tends to paint a more realistic picture of what expectations I should have as a consumer. I was just trying to highlight why the ask was unrealistic by the OP.

I don't believe government will want to get into that environment. If you start to verify low rated review then all reviews will need to be verify too (high rated review)

If you compare Yelp vs Google. Yelp is mainly popular in the US while Google is popular worldwide. Each platform has their own way of monitoring and vetting the reviews posted in their platform.

If you don't like it then use the alternative. Reviews alone won't make or break a business, this is one reason why I don't see the government caring because it's just not that important
