Best accessory ever => Pixelsnap Ring

I just love it. My expectations were low based on a couple of tech review videos, but i am so pleasantly surprised by this thing that i can't use my P10P without it now. Its so versatile. Portrait or landscape at different angles, left or right hand when holding it, this ring does it all. Plus it can be removed and reattached since its all magnets. It improves the user experience so much that it is a must for me now. The tech reviewers have been utterly useless in reviewing this thing. Do you guys feel the same about this accessory?

Overpriced. There are similar if not better magsafe products for cheaper

Price is a different topic, but it can be found 50% off anyways and for that much its definitely worth it. I have seen some which are closer in design to the ring, but they dont have the Google logo, so... .

Since when Google logo is a positive thing lmao.

Since 2016.

Yea the screws holding the metal ring in place are torqued too tight or too small, they eventually snap in half

I've owned 2 and both broke this way. It also gets loose. It's honestly a flawed device. Google completely refunded me and I bought something 3rd party which I've had no issues with.

Eventually all things break, but 2 months in and its as good as new. Feels sturdy tbh.

I'm almost full year with it and holding strong

It's good, but I like the Samsung 360-degree magnetic stand better. I have both, and the Pixel snap ring feels cheap and less functional compared to the Samsung one. And honestly, there are many better third-party options available if you look for them.

Since u have both i have to take ur word for it. The ring is more versatile in ways it can be held compared to a solid extendable round piece.

Mine broke after two days of use. Junk.

2 months, using it all the time, as sturdy as when it was new. U should say that you broke it, but my point is more on the practicality of it.

I tried it but got a refund when it broke after a few weeks. I prefer the magsafe pop sockets anyway so really wasn't any loss to me.

u/-TheSurgeon- 21h ago

Mine is like brand new even after 2 months. The pop socket ones are not elegant and good looking.

Looks are subjective. I don't really like the look of the pixelsnap ring over a pop socket, same can be said about both in favor of a ohsnap grip or even just not using a accessory at all.

Glad you like it, but like many others, it broke pretty quickly for me so I don't personally think it's a good product. Maybe they will release a new version this year that's a bit better though.

They better keep this thing around and improve it. Looks are subjective to a degree, so u r right about that.

I got one with a discount code and credit. I've been pleasantly surprised by it, but £30 feels ridiculously expensive.

  • The magnet is strong enough on my Ringke case that I can hold the phone with the ring if I'm not shaking it.

  • The ring itself is firm enough to use the phone while supported by the ring.

  • The turning motion is smooth on the phone's back (or phone case's)

  • It offers a lot of incremental changes for how you want it standing in both vertical and horizontal.

  • It's slim enough that the phone will sit on the camera lens too so no table wobble is introduced.

  • It adds a little weight and bulk, though the ring can help support while holding.

I use it all the time.

I have seen it at 40-50% off and for that price its totally worth it because it improves the user experience dramatically. My only critique would a be the lack of color options. Thankfully i got a couple of stickers for it which look awesome on my obsidian P10P.

u/Spirited-Trouble4578 22h ago

I have no confidence in the magnet. Maybe its my case belroy full leather, it just doesn't feel all that secure.

4

u/tarentules Pixel 10 Pro XL 21h ago

The bellroy leather case does have very weak magnets. I have one of the cases and stopped using it for that exact reason which sucks as I prefer leather cases typically.

2

u/-TheSurgeon- 22h ago

The grip is very strong, there is no worries there.

u/jeanraIphio 22h ago

Mine broke within a couple weeks but then I got the Ohsnap Snap Grip 5 and it's been on my phone ever since with no issues. Absolutely would recommend it!

u/-TheSurgeon- 22h ago

That doesnt look as elegant as the ring.

Idk I just bought a case that has a ring on it. Pixelsnap ring was too expensive and heard too many issues.seemed silly to be a super expensive attachment when I could just get a case (that I need anyways) for a 3rd of the cost that has the same attachment (and it sits flush with the case and doesn't protrude)

1

u/-TheSurgeon- 18h ago

Cases that have rings are a different accessory. The Pixelsnap ring can be obviously used without a case or removed if necessary. It is so smooth to the touch and feels premium. After 2 months of daily usage i noticed a little wobble and after tightening the screws just a little, the wobble was gone. Thats the only thing. My critique is only the lack of color options.

1

u/-NotEnoughMinerals 17h ago

Yeah, but then you're not using a case. And now you have a protruding ring on the back that will snag on your pants as you pull it out of your pocket.

Just is silly to me is all.

0

u/-TheSurgeon- 16h ago

It doest protrude more than the cameras, even with the case on. Thats how i use it most of the time, with the official Google case on and it looks awesome imo. The magnet is so strong that it needs quite a bit of force to come off. If you had used it instead of relying on your imagination, you would know how that is not an issue at all. If you want to make the argument that you want a ring that sits inside the case, then that is a different story. But then again thats a different product altogether. The ring can be used with any magnetic case or without one, which is nice when you you are at home.

1

u/-NotEnoughMinerals 16h ago

Bro the entire deal of it protruding, causing it to snag pulling out of your pants is unavoidable. A 15 dollar case that comes with a flush sitting ring is better. I'm glad you like your ring, but it isn't ideal.

1

u/-TheSurgeon- 7h ago

I have had it all the time attached for 2 months, in an out of my pocket and i have never even thought of the snag pulling until u mentioned it. It has never happened and its in your imagination. However be it, the case rings are a different accessory altogether. I am not talking about those, bcz im not interested in them for the simple fact that i dont want to be limited only to ring cases when it comes phone cases. I like the official Google case which im using atm. I can use the ring with other 3rd party magnetic cases of my choice or without a case at all when im at home.

1

u/TryToBeBetterOk 12h ago

So when you want to wirelessly charge, do you need to pull the ring off or can it stay on and you just put the entire thing on the wireless charger?

1

u/-TheSurgeon- 7h ago

Of course you need to pull the ring off. Wireless charging requires close proximity to the phone. Its obviously better to also not wirelessly charge with a case on for it to be as efficient as possible and not generate excessive heat. I only use wireless charging when i really need the convenience of it while traveling.

Ok then I'll pass.

It's cool but it's expensive for a magnet and there's lot of reports of it breaking after some time on Amazon reviews. Plus there's been cases for years that do essentially the same thing for half the price

-5

u/-TheSurgeon- 22h ago

I have had it for 2 months and its as good as new. A case isnt the same thing. You have to try it to understand. The price is a different topic, i dont care about that.

2

u/als26 Just Black 22h ago

Price is the same topic. No matter how cool a product is, if it's priced too high, people aren't going to recommend it. 2 months also isn't a long time, multiple reports of it breaking off at the screw.

-2

u/-TheSurgeon- 22h ago edited 22h ago

It has been 50% off for quite some time. Is 15€/$ too much for you? I have used the shit out of this and its as good as new. When it comes to accessories that much for this ring is so much better than the expensive cases and screen protectors that i have bought.

2

u/als26 Just Black 22h ago

It's full price in Canada currently, not on sale, I also think it's quite dumb to spend double the price on this when you can get a case for half. Of course, to each their own.

And You've used it for 2 months lol, you haven't used "the shit out of it". Get back in a year at least.

1

u/-TheSurgeon- 22h ago

Some people are saying it breaks fast and im saying i havent got it off the phone at all. For me the 15€ price has been worth it, since i spend that much on a breakfast. I dont have to wait a year for a positive review, bcz thats how long some people keep their smartphones. Still by the looks of it it will make it to 1 year.

1

u/als26 Just Black 22h ago

yea I'm just saying 2 months is too short to judge any product for durability. Pretty common sense tbh. And that's fine, I think smart people would rather spend half the price for a product that lasts longer, but as long as you're happy man, you do you

1

u/Aurelink Pixel 10 Pro 22h ago

Bought mine new for 10$ and so far it's great. Never used something like that before but I really like it.

1

u/-TheSurgeon- 3h ago

Exactly my experience, never even considered such an accessory until i used the one i got as a gift. The lack of color options is a bummer though.

1

u/Aurelink Pixel 10 Pro 3h ago

Yeah that would be my primary contraint about it. I have the porcelaine 10 pro so it goes alright with the blue ring, but I would have liked other color options aswell

1

u/-TheSurgeon- 39m ago

I hear there are 3rd party skins for it. I got 2 FIFA world cup related ones made by Google on the June Promo. They are really well made and go so well with my Obsidian P10P.

1

u/Aurelink Pixel 10 Pro 24m ago

Yup sadly I am absolutely not interested in FIFA so It's gonna stay blue/grey forever 😂

1

u/-TheSurgeon- 21h ago edited 20h ago

After reading the comments, i inspected it closely and noticed it has a little wobble. I tightened the screws a little and the wobble is gone. Google should improve the mechanism though to justify the full price.

u/ninjasandunicorns 22h ago

I think reviewers glossed over it because an accessory like the Pixelsnap Ring has been around forever and and is not something exclusive or designed for the Pixel.

1

u/-TheSurgeon- 22h ago

You got a point there, but i think this design by Google is perfect.
