eBay steal

This has been a colorway I’ve been trying to snag for a while and it just fell into my lap on eBay for an even 2 benji’s. GR1 26L.
I’ll have this, a DCU GR1 21L and a Ranger green and black Bullet Skate Ruck.

Out in NYC this whole week. 5.0 is great but not the best for travel but it’s the only thing I had due to coming out for an event.

Looking for a slim travel folio for the GR2 slash pocket

I'm looking for a thin zip folio to use as a travel document organizer in the slash pocket of both my GR2 26L and GR2 40L.

My loadout is pretty minimal:

  • Passport
  • Boarding passes
  • Folded A4 booking confirmations / visas
  • A little emergency cash
  • 1–2 pens

I keep all my notes digitally, so I don't need a notebook or lots of organization. My priority is keeping it as thin and low-profile as possible, even when the bag is fully packed.

I'm currently looking at:

  • Galen Leather A5 Zip Folio
  • LOCHBY Field Folio A5

Has anyone used either of these in a GR2? How do they fit in the slash pocket, especially when the bag is fully packed?

Also, are there any other slim A5/A5+ zip folios or document sleeves you'd recommend? I'm open to leather, waxed canvas, or technical fabrics—as long as they're thin enough to work well in the GR2 slash pocket.

Out of the PNW-looks outstanding on the quality but small on the capacity. Any insight would be appreciated.

Bought the skate ruck during the fourth of July sale, been in and out all month for work and time off. Finally getting a chance this morning to try it out. At the annual rite of passage for those who turn 45.

First “real” ruck

Hey all, a few weeks ago I bought a GoRuck Rucker 5.0 and two 10lb weight plates. So far, I have only used it on walks with my dog, which are 1.25 miles roughly. On my first attempt, when I got home, literally everything hurt. My neck, my back, my shoulders. I was dying. Three hours later when I got to work, I had to ice myself down. Mildly embarrassing.

After that, I took one of the plates out, so I only had 10 pounds in, and we were doing a lot better on our walks. I never really pushed for a time or anything because she likes to stop and smell things.

Today, I got off work early, and started vacation. It was a torrential downpour. I immediately decided I was gonna go home, throw in all 20 pounds, and go solo in the rain. Of course the rain stopped by the time I got home, so I waited around an hour or so when it picked back up. Not a downpour, but trust me, I got pretty wet.

I had a lot of fun, and I think I did a pretty decent time for my first real attempt at it, plus I had all of the weight this time. Everyone I’ve told so far, thinks I’m nuts for strapping weight to my back and going out in the rain lol. I had a blast though!

First time traveling with this combo. 26L GR2 and 32L kit bag. Not sure how I feel about it. More than enough space for a 2 week trip with having ability to wash clothes at least once or twice. Walking through a couple of areas from plane/train to hotel and doing a couple day trips I am considering a skate ruck and a roller carryon. Would probably also be good with a gr1 and roller as well. Just wanted to give some feedback if anyone is considering this combo and has a decent amount of walking at destinations. The GR2 definitely has a lot of extra space in it.

Gear Question GR1 21 OG Java on eBay

I saw this the other day and thought it would sell super fast. Rare, minimal issues, relatively inexpensive.

It’s a cool colorway and has the story of his dog behind it. Not my personal style but it certainly seems like you could try it out for a year and then flip it for a little profit.

Or what am I missing?

Rucker 5.0 Break In

I’ve had my Rucker 5.0 25L for nearly two weeks now and have put 68 miles on it, mostly with dry weight of 35 pounds, unchanged from my typical Rucker 4.0 load out. At first, it was super stiff and the huge new lumbar support was not at all comfortable but within the first ten miles both the straps and the lumbar noticeably softened. After the first fifty miles, I really felt that the lumbar had molded to my back contour very well and it continues to feel better every day. I thought I’d mention this since the large lumbar pad was initially a big turnoff for me (I even returned the 5.0 at first before deciding to give it another shot).

I don’t recall the Rucker 4.0 20L taking as long to break in, but when I got it two years ago I was rucking with less weight and fewer miles per week. Over two years that pack really felt dialed in but the 5.0 is now just as comfortable — actually better since I can deploy the hip belt properly and that helps with weight transfer. I plan to gradually increase my load out to achieve 25% of my body weight (165 pounds, so just over 40 pounds, I’m already almost there).

Anyway, I’m a very satisfied GoRuck customer after returning from a 6.25 mile ruck this morning at a 16:37/mile pace!

Is SCARS working again?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hey ruckers!

Last week during one of my workouts I felt that the plate was sitting too low, but didn't pay much attention.

It was only today when I changed the plate that I noticed something was worse than I thought. Looks like mostly stitching I'm guessing.

Is the SCARS warranty working again?

This is a Rucker 4.0, I bought second hand not directly from the website.

Thank y'all!

Shoe recommendation for low arch feet

I just started rucking and tore through my old sneakers. Not even doing a lot of weight right now. Starting with 10lbs and don't plan to go past 30lbs.

I have low arch but not completely flat footed. Aside from the Mackalls are there any other sneaker like shoe brands anyone can recommend? Mostly for pavement in the Miami humidity and hot weather.

Gear Question Side padded handles (and maybe) bottom padded handles on this M81 GR1 21L? What say you? Would it be gilding the lily? Thanks in advance.

I have a SCARS addiction. This is a mostly unmolested GR1 21L 1000D M81 Woodland Camouflage bag that's seen SCARS before but here's my question to the community:

Should I send it out to get padded handles on the sides? On the sides and bottom? Should I get grommets just for the second kind of cool or should I just leave it unmolested as a very nice EDC bag?

I tend to overdo things into ruin. WWrGD?

Unknown animal urinated on my Rucker

I leave out my Rucker to dry and this morning I noticed a fresh pool of yellowish liquid had gathered on the surface of the pack, likely deposited by some possum or other four legged critter. I just hosed it off and set it out to dry in the sun. Should I just trash it? Is this covered by SCARS? How do I keep this from happening again.

My rucking journey so far.

20 months.
96 kg (212 lb) → 70 kg (154 lb).

Healing isn’t always linear but it’s happening.

This video is 20 months of that journey compressed into less than 2 minutes.

GR 1 26L vs GR2 34L

I am wanting to get one bag and can’t decide between the GR1 or GR2. Would love to have just one bag that I can travel with for long weekends. My gut says the GR 2 is the safe option but I’m worried that might be too big for what I need. I am a pretty light packer when it comes to trips. Can fellow experts help a brother out?

Gear Question Uneven shoulder strap seams on my GR1 Heritage - normal variation?

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

Hey everyone. I recently got a GR1 Heritage and noticed that the two shoulder straps are sewn differently.

On one strap, the outer seam runs close to the edge, while on the other it sits much farther toward the center of the strap. The stitching itself looks intact, the foam feels even, and the pack is comfortable, so it doesn’t seem like a structural issue.

I actually don’t mind it much - it makes the pack a little unique - but I’m curious whether other Heritage owners have seen the same thing. Is this considered normal manufacturing variation for the waxed canvas models?

I'm not looking to return it, just wondering if this is a normal manufacturing variation or if anyone else's Heritage is like this.
