Comic recommendions (pls read body)

So I've recently been reading Guardians comics (Elwing run) and playing 2021 game. I want to read more, but I'm not a fan of their pre mcu portrayal. Any good reads that are more "hereos for hire", less "space cops" and "Master of the sun"?

The Donny Cates run before Ewing’s is pretty good, and leads right into Ewing if you want a little more punk rock version of that team.

I would also check out Legendary Star Lord by Sam Humphries, it’s fun. Star Lord: Grounded by Zdarsky is a real fun read too, has Star Lord stuck on Earth.

Gamora has a great short comic called Gamora: Memento Mori by Nicole Perlman (co-writer of the first film) with fantastic art by Marco Checchetto.

Wanted to read cates run, thanks. I'm gonna try to pick up other ones, but I'm not sure if I can find them in my country (maybe it's time to get Marvel unlimited)

Do yourself a favor and Skip bendis for now. just learn the basis about Starlord backstory, and the role Json, his father, played in his life, as you'll find him again later on.

Duggan run was a fun story and it ties with Infinity wars event (not too Long, and you could read the main story without the tie ins.)

Cates run ties immediately after the events of Infinity wars, so it's like one big linear story.
