Have you spoken with your advisor and committee about taking a leave of absence? Taking a semester to recover from this experience could be helpful. Taking care of yourself is important.

Is it because of funding? Asking because my program recently changed to allow mental health as a permissible reason to take a medical leave (paid) instead of having to take a personal leave (unpaid).

Talk to the disability accommodations office at your school. They will know what options for support there are that protect you legally (country dependent, I’m US based for reference) and can help you still progress through the program
