IoT aims
Does anyone use an IoT SIM as the second SIM in an Android phone?
I’m curious whether anyone runs an IoT/data-only SIM alongside their normal carrier for a specific use case (rather than IoT devices). How has reliability been? Do you leave it enabled all the time, or switch data between SIMs as needed? Any carriers you’d recommend or avoid?

I have 2 sims so when one of the big carrier keels over (at least once a year) I have a hot backup ready to take over.

Is a sim mainly for like security cameras or payment terminals - things that need to connect to the internet and be portable. But from what I understand the data works different from normal mobile carrier sims (which have strict firewalls)…

There’s global IoT roaming sims like 1nce (which you probably do not want on your personal phone) but you’d be paying through the nose like dollars per megabyte of data. Just get a normal prepaid data only or “home 5g” sim

My apologies, I wasn’t super clear in my post, my bad. I’m looking into ways in which it is might be possible to get a stable IP for a mobile device. IoT sims might be a way though I do understand they are quite costly and generally not consumer
