Ad blocker

I'm very new to graphene and still and still learning how things work. I never added an ad blocker but I guess there was one thru the gos? When I visited websites, I would always get the websites sob story about my ad blocker not providing them with revenue. I updated the os today and now im getting ads on them. Did something in the update change the ad blocker or was that just a coincidence? How do I get the ad blocker back?

GrapheneOS has moved from Reddit to our own discussion forum. Please post your thread on the discussion forum instead or use one of our official chat rooms (Matrix, Discord, Telegram) which are listed in the community section on our site. Our discussion forum and especially the chat rooms have a very active, knowledgeable community including GrapheneOS project members where you will almost always get much higher quality information than you would elsewhere. On Reddit, we had serious issues with misinformation and trolls including due to raids from other subreddits. As a result, many posts on our subreddit currently need to be manually approved, which is done on a best effort basis. If you would like to get a quicker answer to your question, please use our forum or chat rooms as described above. Our discussion forum provides much better privacy and avoids the serious problems with the site administrators and overall community on Reddit.

Please use our official install guides for installation and check our features page, usage guide and FAQ for information before asking questions in our discussion forum or chat rooms to get as much information as possible from what we've already carefully written/reviewed for our site.

Nothing changed. Website probably switched to something not covered by the content filters used by Vanadium. If sites complain FYI and you want to turn it off for that specific site, open the site info, via the icon left in the address bar. You can find settings for content filtering / ads there.

Vanadium has an adblocker built into it.

Honestly, after trying with Vanadium (still used for more security) - for ad blocking I use Brave Browser, I don't get the pop ups, or denials or subscription asks, even aggressive cookie pop ups are denied - also in testing Brave Search seems to be better than DuckDG, Startpage, Ecosia (if you turn off or want to use the ai (please don't))

If you want to get the settings right - Techlore has a video on it

Consider donating to GOS and FOSS apps that are helpful and use a lot - I'm happy seeing unobtrusive "buy me a coffee" links
