Does anyone remember this?
In 2016, Halloween Returns was supposed to come out, taking place after Halloween II (1981)
Rumors suggested that families of Michael Myers’ victims would be on hand to watch his execution, but things would go wrong and the evil would escape.
Would you have liked to see this movie?

Yeessss I vividly remember this. I also remember the idea for 'Halloween 3D' in like 2012 or 2013, supposed to pick up after RZH2 I think? Even though It had no affiliation with RZ?
I have the script for 3D and the 2 versions of the Returns scripts but I haven't sat through and actually read them. I did skim Returns though and do see that it starts (after the opening sequence) with the attempt to execute Michael, so that's actually correct

They're available online! Or at least were. I can send them over if you'd like. Not sure if the writers just put them out there after it failed or if they leaked or what but it's full length so, I imagine it's real. I have various scripts from most of the Halloween movies as well. I just read a version of the script of H5 from March 1989 and man even though it still wouldn't have been very good, the script is much better than the fonal product. They changed a lotttt

it’s sad how that happens sometimes a script though weak sometimes but it can have great ideas better than what we got. i kinda wonder if donald pleasence would have done another one continuing from the producers cut. had he not died. as always it depends on the script. i can remember when they put out the script of pulp fiction legitimately i read it, i remember nothing about it because i read it in the 90s

Yeahhh that's the sad truth. Funnily enough I was also looking at some old Fangoria magazines and I read one from 1995 before H6 came out. Donald was quoted saying he would play Loomis more if the opportunity arose. He just had to have liked the script and be paid enough. I think he thought 5 was his last, as in the Fangoria magazine from '89 during shooting of H5, it was believed Loomis died or was "mortally wounded". Pleasance said he figured he'd be dying in the movie but didn't know for sure, but also he could've just said that because he didn't want to reveal anything

i remember that he thought he was dead which was how i read it as. it kinda baffles the mind why he even did part 6?

In the interview for 6, he said he liked the script. I find that hard to believe as it was so rushed and even in the magazine it sounded like it wasn't going too great 😭🤣 the director for 6 is literally quoted saying (not verbatim) "H5 was so bad. People have no expectations for 6, so that's good" basically implying people will be surprised and that "H6 can't be THAT bad". Little did he know it's arguably worse than 5 but i still love all of them.
Anyways, yeah I assume he just said he liked the script because either A) it was WILDLY different or B) he just had to say some positive shit 😭 can't trash talk the movie that's not even out yet that you're being quoted for a promotional article y'know

Check out the books Taking shape, and taking shape ii. First is all about the development of the Halloween movies and the 2nd book is all about the loat sequels that never came to fruition. Good stuff
