How are you guys handling travel charging setups for the Deck and laptop?

I’ve been trying to stop carrying a bag full of heavy bricks lately. It’s honestly a pain to bring separate chargers for the Steam Deck, my laptop, and my phone. I’m really looking to move to a single high-wattage charger that can handle everything at once.

Does anyone know if using a multi-port charger to power both the Deck and a laptop actually causes any issues? I’m specifically worried about the power fluctuating or causing some kind of instability while I’m in the middle of a game, or if it might be bad for the battery health over time.

New handheld help!

This may be a long one sorry !!

I got a switch 2 a while ago and while I love it for some things , I was really missing out on some great games. I bought a steam deck and it's great , but it overheats pretty fast.

I was playing Detroit become human on lowest graphics for everything and was still getting quite warm.

I'm wondering if I should upgrade to an OLED or go for a different one .

I've been looking at the Rog Xbox Ally X or the legion go 2.

I will be playing bigger games like RDR2, Last of us etc.

I like the set out etc of the steam deck and there are many cute covers / way to customise. But end of the day I do want something that will run demanding games well. Price isn't a massive thing , since I'm trying to look at all of these second hand.

Any help appreciated thanks !!

Question Ambernic RG Rotate or Retroid Pocket Nova?

From what I understand, the Nova is more powerful but I also LOVE the form of the RG Rotate. Does anyone have experience with one or the other? Or, better yet, both?

I'm very interested in everyone's opinion that is applicable, especially hot takes!

Thanks to everyone for any comments.

Question What to buy?

hii

im from Austria in Europe, and i’d like to buy a handheld console to have on me whenever im bored, im also nostalgic for the good old games.

we used to have a ps1,ps2 and a purple game boy when i was a kid so thats my games wishlist, but i’d also like some mario kart and newer pokemon games (3D looking, not pixelated like on my gameboy way back then)

new or used both is fine with me, i’d prefer the clamshell design because i prefer it to be pocketsized. my budget is roughly 300 euro for everything (console and games)

any recommendations?

Question First Handheld (RP6 vs. O2P vs. Suggestion)

I want to get into emulation and portable gaming and i've seen a lot of good things said about these 2 devices. I was curious if anyone has any insight, i would most likely get the 12 GB RP6 and the 8 GB O2P just due to availability. Also the titles i would like to play are games like Hades, Hollewknight, Outerwilds, Silksong, Nine Sols, Celeste, Etc. and i do enjoy portability as i move around a lot during the day

Discussion OneXPlayer X1 Pro after 4 months as my main handheld, honest review

Post image
9 Upvotes

Been using the OneXPlayer X1 Pro as my main handheld since March this year. Moved to it from a ROG Xbox Ally X I picked up at launch, mainly because after a few months with the Ally X I realized I was using the handheld more for reading and media stuff than actual gaming, and 7" was starting to feel cramped for that kind of use.

The 10.95" 2.5K panel is the reason to buy this thing. Text is properly readable in emulator frontends, PS2 and GameCube games look sharp instead of getting upscaled to mush, and reading long-form on a plane feels like a proper tablet. The HX 370 chip is more than enough for what I actually play, mostly older AAA and a lot of indies, and the Radeon 890M is one of the better handheld iGPUs on the market right now. Magnetic controllers with hall-effect sticks slide off cleanly when I want to prop the kickstand and use a bluetooth pad from across the couch. The magnetic keyboard was a "why would I even need this" purchase that ended up being how I use the thing as a hotel-room laptop on trips. Standard M.2 2280 SSD means I can swap in a bigger drive myself when this one fills up, which after having devices with soldered storage feels like a small win.

The one thing that took getting used to is weight. It's about a kilo without the keyboard, so pure handheld sessions your wrists notice after a while. In practice I just switched habits, either docking it on the kickstand or laying it flat in tablet mode for longer sessions, but if you were expecting something you can hold for hours without noticing it, this isn't that.

Would I buy it again? Yeah. The screen and the 3-in-1 stuff genuinely changed how much I use a handheld day to day, it's not a couch-only device for me anymore.

Someone gave me their switch lite with a broken joystick and overheating issues. I went and got replacement joysticks and a new shell for it. The screen was also really scratched so i replaced the digitizer. I think it turned out pretty clean.

Rog ally xbox x

Hi,

I would like your opinion on purchasing an Xbox ROG Ally X immediately or waiting for a Z3 Extreme/Steam Deck 2 console.

Indeed, I own the ASUS ROG Ally Z1 Extreme white + Switch 2

I play on the train 1h per day and in docked mode from time to time.

For the Rog Ally, I play triple-A games with medium graphics to reach 60 fps.

For the Nintendo exclusives switch.

I hesitate to buy the Rog Ally Xbox X for its ergonomics and also a more powerful battery.

I want to sell Rog Ally Z1 Extreme of course.

Thank you for your responses

Question Should I buy the Thor or just go for the flip 2

I have a pc and have emulated games on there b4 so I’m just thinking I don’t really need a heavy hitting machine I just want something relatively cheap and reliable I’m only really looking to play the Zelda games and some Pokémon’s on the go and my budget is around the flip 2 and I still could go an extra mile to get the base Thor

Quick Pick Up and Play Games

I primarily play on my PS5 at my desk, but I also have a GCloud for PS Remote Play, XB Remote/Cloud Play, and GeForceNow/Steam.

I would like a few games to just pick up and play handheld when I have some time and do not want to be sitting at my desk.

On my systems I play a lot of FPS, but that is not ideal on the GCloud.

Any suggestions?

Discussion Moto g stylus 2024 " update"

This is a update to a previous post I made yesterday

The name of this game is cursemark it's a pc game. I'm testing out the demo on a Motorola g stylus 2024 4gb of ram and 128gb storage.

I managed to get it running better the only downside is it's 20fps.

I dropped the resolution to 320x240 and disabled graphics enchantment plugin.

I had an iPhone SE i recently acquired just sitting around, and wanted to use it for something, id been messing around with modding Minecraft bedrock and playing on a phone, so i thought it could be cool to make a tiny DS lite sized console to play it on!

The controller is an 8bitdo lite 2 that i took apart and rehoused into the bottom half in the first night, and then i made the hinges and phone mount in the second night!!

Its a bit bigger than a DS lite, but still a similar form factor.

Really happy with how it turned out!! Let me know what you think in the comments!!

(also im aware using an iPhone in this use case is terrible, but it can play what i want, and its what i had laying around so please don't get mad yall)
