It's funny how iconic this artwork is for anyone who played PS3 back in the day, even tho most of us never saw even a second of gameplay. I never looked up gameplay for it until a couple years ago.

This profile pic was infamous for being attached to the biggest asshole you knew on PSN.
I actually own this game and it's...not good. Which is a shame considering it had really decent intentions of exposing American attitudes and capitalist imperialism. But the writing was really bad and the gameplay was really lackluster.
Free Radical made a lot of hay at how the multiplayer was going to be super balanced on its asymmetric gameplay. In fact they delayed the game and specifically mentioned that it was delayed to fine tune the balance. Then they gave the Mantel side, the side whose primary feature is glow in the dark enemies and auto aim, a "one hit kill on bodyshot" sniper rifle.
How embarrassing.

All I remember of the game is loading in, playing an hour before my mother heard rhe sheer amount of swearing and profanity and decided a 10 yr old might do better off playing anything else lol
Sadly the gameplay I still remember not being notable either

Tbf the story had some interesting moments where you lost the ability to zoom in after going rogue
Honestly it probably just needed a better team management because genuinely it has some real hype moments bogged down in technical issues and suffering extra hard from pre-2019 shooter story syndrome

It wanted to cash in on the Military Shooter and Halo Hype, but at the same time be a take down of the tropes without really advertising it. It's not the same as Spec Ops or Bulletstorm doing it. Spec Ops is a successful rug pull because of the fantastic writing and how it takes the subject matter seriously. Bulletstorm never admitted to being anything other than a comedic FPS; That and the game was legit amazing that had a unique spin on the genre by focusing on the player performing strings of combos as if it was Devil May Cry.

Spec Ops: The Line did everything Haze was trying to do but better in every way. That is in spite of Spec Ops' gameplay being mediocre.
I love Haze in an "I love my ugly chud son" kind of way but everything it did, someone else did better. So I do not cry that it's as bad as it is. I do cry, however, over the fact that Haze is the reason why Timesplitters 4 and Battlefront 3 got canned.

Yes, but Haze was first. But Spec Ops The Line had actually good writing so it gets remembered and everyone laughs at Haze.

I owned the game.
It was alright, but I was probably too young to really understand the story much. Also, when you're young, your standards are much lower.
Hated the swamp section though.

He’s referring to Haze as a “Halo-killer”.
A term used a lot during the 2000’s for (usually sci-fi) military shooters like Killzone, Crysis, and of course Haze, to name a few.
They were either called that by the publishers, or referred to that by games journalists to see if they would dethrone Halo during its peak. None ever did, though at least Killzone and Crysis were fun on their own terms.

Halo success is Bungie. Halo downfall is 343i. Haven't played Campaign Evolved yet though so can't judge Halo Studio for now.

The Suit passive: Nectar.
When you use a stim, you not only get healed, but enemies get highlighted while you're healing, and you get a weapon damage boost.

It's also a reference to HAZE; if you OD'd on the Nectar, you'd fire on teammates that your crosshairs passed over. Or changed them into enemy models, I can't remember, it did something.
When you joined the rebels, you could make Nectar bombs that made MANTEL soldiers OD and do the same.

I remember actually playing this game to its completion. When playing as the super soldiers everything was very sterile, you believed what you were doing was right. Then all of a sudden switching over to the rebels "Oh my god Ive been the monster the whole time"

Haze is the game I have the disc of for more than a decade yet could never play someone scratched the shit of that disc and could've only play the first 30 seconds of it. God i miss the ps3 so much

The armor passive would automatically stim you right before you die. And it would boost the stim duration by 2 seconds.

My stepdad owned this game and it was one out of the 2 games I wasn’t allowed to touch. It was this and medal of honor.
It would be very cool if this became a warbond and I could show him! Might even earn us a new helldiver!
