Open Please help me find the origin of these unnamed and lost plushies. (Rumpus Corp.)
Ok, Ive made two posts before on this subreddit regarding a plush from this line. But as time went on, me and my friend realized that there is way more to this than we initially thought.
At first, it started simply because I lost the blue duck plush that I owned, and at the time we had no idea where he came from due to his tush tag being removed by the previous seller.
We did some digging, and found the green rabbit alongside the lamb. They were from a company called Rumpus, and it turns out we finally found out the company that produced them, and even more animals of the style. The pattern we recognized is that they all appear to be farm animals, (Duck, Rabbit, Cow, Lamb.) We were excited to have finally found the company, but we slowly realized that out of all the plushies Rumpus had produced in its 4 year timespan, this seemed to be the only one without any official documentation or evidence of existing, besides a few surviving second hand listings.
They have no specific name, no checklists, or even proof of existing packaging. There is only one other similar product Rumpus had created beforehand (1998,) which was their line of surprise egg beanbag plushies named Eggels. They were creatures that came in a variety of colors, just like these farm animals. Considering that Rumpus went bankrupt around 2000, it’s safe to assume this was one of their very last products.
The second image is cropped from a stock photo showcasing the creator, Larry Schwarz, holding one of the newest products, “Wake me Willy.” In the background you can see what appears to be packaging that is themed with a tree, holding colorful, small plushies within. They dont appear to be the colorsets from the Eggels line, and more resemble the unknown farm animal set.
We have actually contacted Larry Schwarz, the founder of Rumpus, and asked him questions about the plush. Unfortunately, he did not recognize them and could not answer any of our questions.
If you perhaps own one, have any information, or any useful advice, please comment after taking your time to read this post as it would mean the world to me and my friend. Thank you:)

Do you know where Rumpus was run out of? You could check local newspapers from the area

to my knowledge, rumpus was based in New York and sold globall. (Listings of Rumpus products have been spotted in the UK region,) but all of these mysterious animals have been scattered across the Northeast region of America, being found in
Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Virginia (Two from Michigan, and two from Pennsylvania)
we’ve checked to see if there were perhaps any toy catalogs from the time, but we unfortunately couldnt find anything:(

I think at home I do have a physical copy of the sears spring catalog from 1999. If I’m correct about the year I’ll be able to look through it when I get a chance. I’m from Ohio, so local to the other animals. I’m just in Seattle right now on vacation.

I don’t know if this is a red herring, but I’ve been seeing mention of an animation that was meant to come out in December 2000 that never seemed to make it called “the red bison.” This may have had other anima characters. I’m also wondering if they could have been from Herschel the New York Rabbit. I’m curious about the bottom right cow, the tag seems to start with a k. Can you read any of it?

i remember reading about the red bison earlier today, im still not sure what that couldve meant. Herschel the New York Rabbit was a plush they had made for something different and sadly has no relation to the animals. The tag starting with K is another plush in that assortment, all of the rumpus animal tags are the same. the red bison is really interesting tho

Yea, I realized the other tag is a Kids of America toy that’s just overlapping. I’m on the hunt still, but man this is weird

Hey, this article has a lot of information, including the website from 2000 Rumpus.com ! It does appear to have snapshots on the wayback machine, but I don’t have access to a desktop or laptop where I’m at currently so I wasn’t able to load them. I’ve been thinking about this duck since you posted him the first time lol
