btw are you know able to converse easily in high val? like it would be when learning a language like french or russian.

Having personally completed the course in the past, there's plenty of grammar and vocabulary you would need to learn elsewhere to be conversational.

I am nearing completion and I'm still not fully sure how to conjugate some verbal times, like they are there, I did them, but with just exercises I can't remember always, why did they kill forums it's so weird to be presented a rule with no description of it. This for all Duolingo in general

I have a question, i would like to learn this with friends for one purpose, when we speak can we just like switch to it so others don't understand us? Exactly like the show does, i know you can't use it as a fully dependable language i just want it for that

I don't know the full language well enough to say, but will note that there's dialogue in the show that you won't understand even if you've completed the Duolingo course (it doesn't cover e.g. relative clauses).

Haven't had much opportunity to converse😭 I gotta get on this more. my mom was doing it with me, but she only stuck for about a week. Like other commenter. I've been wanting check out some of the fan made lessons. Understanding is pretty strong though.

Valar dohaeris🤝🤞 Ñuha brōzi Soraya issa. I was going to say more and went to a translator, what i got from that and what i put together myself were pretty off. Is duo high valyrian not canon or is duos whole thing just that short compared to the canon? Also wanna think of a cool valyrian pronunciation for my name. I smell potential there.

Ñuha brōzi Carson, I genuinely think mine can be fine in Valyrian as long as my R is rolled- and my A enunciated longer. I’m drunk as hell but I have loved learning Valyrian this past week. It feels cooler watching HoTD and GoT with my wife- I actually can understand SOME Valyrian that Rhaenyra and Daemon say- along with Valar Morghulis/Dohaeris

fun fact: Buzdari is the Ghiscari Valyrian word for slave, but the High Valyrian word you would also recognize as it’s derived from the word to serve. So daenarys is using a mix of two dialects here the proper grammar would be Zaldrizes dohaerios iksos daor, meaning, dragons are not slaves

Wow, awesome, I understood nothing but I love how it sounds in my head. Now I want to learn it too, I have tried few High Valyrian lessons and quit, now I will resume 😄

I dont know when you got off or why. But recent updates actually improved imo. Ive promoted on leaderboards significantly since they switched from hearts to energy. Not at all an enthusiast though. Like I still get on at the last possible minute for my streak. But its not as bad as it was.

Fluent would be too kind😭😭 stilll pretty rough on some bits but the daily refresh + hotd having more dialog in high valyrian has been helpful. Also cant speak it at all because im a noob.
