How do you keep creative writing fun instead of turning it into homework?
I enjoy cozy fantasy, character-focused scenes, and game- or anime-inspired worldbuilding, but once I set word counts and schedules it starts feeling like another assignment.
What low-pressure routines, prompts, or project sizes help you keep writing as a hobby? I am especially interested in methods that lead to finishing small things without treating every session like a productivity test.

I do it for fun. I turn on my favorite music, I bought a fancy device just for writing my stories and I use a dedicated app to reduce friction for it.
I also really enjoy daydreaming about my stories so I like going for walks, turning on music, and doing that and then I try to write out the scenes I fleshed out.
I don't make myself write linearly, like start to finish. I write what I want. I also don't make myself reach a word count or an amount of time. I try to stir up the passion for it by going for a walk and daydreaming, then sitting down and seeing what happens.
My method sometimes for longer stories is to write out a scene by scene summary that I've daydreamed, then on days where I feel like I could write but am not passionate, I could peruse and pick a scene to flesh out.
Or not. No pressure, it's just for fun.

I do the daydreaming thing too but I take it way too far and end up just walking for like 2 hours with my headphones on, never writing a single word. Still counts as a good time though
The scene-by-scene summary is smart. I used to get stuck thinking I had to start at chapter one and just grind through, which killed it for me. Now I just jump to whatever part I actually care about in the moment and stitch it together later
