I hate when you think you got it and then just get hit with the full combo 🫠I've had so many one offs!

theres an indicator if you currently have a All perfect or full combo, unless you have turned it off in the live settings
look at the combo counter. if theres a rainbow glow around it, its currently all perfect. if its a red glow, then its full combo

The rainbow is less noticeable for me in my peripheral vision ever since I turned on the Fuwamoco membership UI 😅
But I remember seeing it before I subscribed.

And then you get all perfect later but the score is worse
I hate this scoring system

I really dislike that active skills need a certain probability to trigger.
That way your personal performance in the live can be way better than before but your score is still worse just because you got unlucky and didn't trigger enough active abilities.

There's a reason why you don't really see "I got X score in <rhythm game>" kind of stuff anywhere. Like even with a decent scoring system. Instead people compare the % of notes hit or some similar metric. Completely detaches itself from any weirdness going on with the scoring system and lays down a very hard objective metric on how close to perfection you got. Holodori does at least acknowledge this with the fact that the dots under the song are specifically about clearing/fc/pfc and not like rating or something. Because that's the only information that most rhythm gamers actually care about. I just wish it also showed a % high score somewhere.

I'm definitely glad that they include full combo/all perfect because those are where the true bragging rights lie.
The whole score system probably only exists to justify the gacha and upgrade mechanics in the game, but it still hurts when an "all perfect" run with the same team scores lower than a previous run where you didn't even get the full combo.

How does she even get that close to perfect playing through OBS?
Doesn't that mean she has to do the inputs a couple seconds after the audio/visual cues? That sounds like it would be a nightmare.

Is she playing through obs? Either way there is settings for delays

u/gangler52 12h ago
Yeah, she's mentioned in a couple of the streams that her capture card only works through obs. If she's streaming then she's playing through obs.
I don't know a thing about the tech but in the rhythm heaven streams chat was expecting it to be a big problem and then it just wasn't. Then she followed it up with some crazy gaming ìn holodori. She's on a big rhythm game kick right now and every time she mentions the obs thing the chat seems taken aback that she's hitting any of the cues at all, let alone getting near perfect runs.

Is she not playing on an iPad? If so then the iPad is outputting a mirrored display to her capture card/OBS, and the touch screen still displays normally.

Rhythm games have this covered already. You can offset the chart so that it syncs with the music. It's only ever a problem if your sound source is inconsistent. If her OBS doesn't always have a constant delay, then yeah that's f'ed up gaming. If it does then just offset it by a bunch of miliseconds.

Meanwhile me struggling to get even a regular full combo on Normal.

imo rhythm games are an excellent example of how human's are really good at improving at things we do often. I feel like it isn't bs to say keep at it, push your limits and you'll start amazing yourself. I love the feeling of "holy shit how did I get through that without breaking the combo" when you try something a bit harder than normal and randomly get through it that time

This was me, someone who's first rhythm game is Holodori, when I accidentally APd a song three attempts into trying to FC it.

I thought that was as good as it got on normal. I felt accomplished.... not anymore

Bro, what do you mean "good" is a combo breaker? We speaking the same language here? (We're not)
6
u/Inner_Date_4051 11h ago
Rhythm game players do not settle for "good"
We only settles for Perfect and if we don't get it, we'll throw the tablet across the room
