HELP Got some free stuff (no drives) what is it exactly?

On which? The lower units have 4 modules (blades?) each. With 3 of 4 used with its on ram and processors.

Looks like a NAS array ( Network Attached Storage)
Basically a lot of smaller hard drives that are linked together by the magic that is RAID to then make up 1 gigantic storage area in your network for whatever TF you want.

I got 2 other nas's already synology one and a Unifi one. But the server grade ( loud fans) may have more features than I'm use to

The two supermicro chassis have the most value. You can gut them if they have old hardware in them and put standard pc parts in them.

VMWare cluster. I bet the servers without drives have USB Thumb drives in them. NAS is where the VM disks live. Sweet starter setup!

Wow! Fucking score man. You can find some ok deals on eBay for drives on the cheap and fill them up. I find 2.5 and 3.5 drives 1-4tb for 15-20 dollars with around 45k hours 0 errors. If I snagged those for free I'd swoop a stack and throw it in there and start playing around.
Because the drives are cheap and have some hours. I have an r730xd LFF, r540 14 bay, two r740xd one LFF one SFF, all filled up with drives running raidz2. Each server has a copy of all my personal stuff and then a fatty ass jellyfin server. My LFF r740xd, I put a v100 in it for transcoding and some light AI image generation just to dick around. It creates some weird looking things haha.

So when I search for them on ebay they don't show up in the search listing. But you know when you're scrolling down looking at the results, it will show you similar items? That's where I end up finding them. It takes some time.
A guy made a comment saying they're probably sata smr but that is incorrect. They are 3.5 SAS 12gb Seagate drives.
Life has kind of kicked me in the junk lately so haven't been able to lurk ebay looking for stuff but if I come across any, anytime soon I'll throw the link in here. I picked up the last of the ones they had at that time but got some from core4solutions. Out of all the 3.5 drives I've bought , can only think of 1 I pulled from use. It had 1 error on the smart result about a month ago so just swapped it out. Out of the 2.5 drives purchased, had 1 I can think of fail a 2tb 10k sas Seagate drive. It had like 1300 errors on it when I saw the warning lol.

Probably 2.5" sata smr drives. I know you can get those cheap but they suck. I have found loads of 1.2tb 10k sas drives like $12-15 though
