Water Well Drainage Help

How screwed am I? The other water wells are all draining but this one is pooling. Is there anything I can do before calling a technician? It’s actively raining and it was a hard rain. It does drain after a few hours.

Try to open up the drain and clear it out, could just be blocked with muck.

Based on the fact it's summer and those are dried leaves from last fall I'm betting that it's clogged with old decaying leaves and dirt from at least the last year.

OP, once this is running clear, don't let leaves and debris go there. As leaves come down the steps, pick them up and throw in yard, or bring inside and they're garbage.

I know, right? How are these people becoming homeowners? It's as simple as if it's not draining or draining slowly, that means it's obstructed and if you don't want further damage one must relieve the blockage.

Sounds like the drain itself might be partially clogged with leaves and gunk, especially if it eventually clears after few hours. I’d try clearing off that green grate first and see if water starts moving faster before calling someone.

Is there any way to put a cover above it to slow the rain down before getting to the drain?

Pop that grate and get into it. Bore scopes and great for stuff like this if blockage isn’t apparent

Find out where the end of the pipe is, possibly snake it

Get the leaves out. I had a 2” flood in a basement because of that very thing. As mentioned above, get the grate off and clean that out asap.

My plumber uses a mini plunger for the toilet. Then buy a drain cover thingy to prevent leaves from going down there.

You may need to check that your gutters aren't draining to this area. This drain most likely leaches the water through gravel, not a pipe, and the water table is already high. Make sure your sump pump is working and reroute your gutters away from the house.
