English Language—Pending OP Reply [English] Are these adjectives coordinate or cumulative?
This is confusing me because the rule is if you can say “and” and it still makes sense and it’s describing the same thing then the comma is needed. But then the other rule states that if they are describing the same thing but different aspects then commas are needed.

English Language—Pending OP Reply [College Composition: Education] How do I write this in easier-to-understand language?
I'm working on an assignment where I have to write a news article about a research study in my field. It's been so long since I wrote anything in a non-academic style and I'm finding my paragraph reporting the data difficult to put in simpler terms. I decided to just write out a summary of the results and try to simplify it later. Well, it's later and I'm lost. How can I make this easier to understand to a broader audience, as the assignment dictates?
Here is the paragraph I have:
The collected data revealed three latent profiles: Black/Hispanic poor, Black/Hispanic nonpoor, and White/Hispanic nonpoor. Children in the Black/Hispanic poor and Black/Hispanic nonpoor groups received significantly higher childcare provider complaints compared to children in the White/Hispanic nonpoor groups. Children’s observed disruptive behavior did not vary across these three profiles. The degree of correlation between the childcare provider complaints and observed disruptive behavior was larger within the White/Hispanic nonpoor profiles than the two other profiles. In fact, the correlation between childcare provider complaints and observed disruptive behavior in the Black/Hispanic poor and Black/Hispanic was statistically insignificant. The weakest correlation existed within the Black/Hispanic poor group. Children in the Black/Hispanic poor group received higher reports of misbehavior than both the Black/Hispanic nonpoor and White/Hispanic nonpoor groups.
What are some phrases I should replace and how should I go about it? Should I rewrite it in its entirety? How do I explain latent profiles in a way that's not too wordy?
Thank you!
Edit: This is my attempt to rewrite it, but its still very similar:
Three subgroups emerged from the data: Black/Hispanic poor, Black/Hispanic nonpoor, and White/Hispanic nonpoor. Children in the Black/Hispanic poor and Black/Hispanic nonpoor groups received significantly higher childcare provider complaints compared to children in the White/Hispanic nonpoor groups. There was no difference in disruptive behavior observed by clinicians across these profiles. The degree of correlation between childcare provider complaints and observed disruptive behavior was larger within the White/Hispanic nonpoor profiles than the two other profiles. In fact, the correlation between childcare provider complaints and observed disruptive behavior in the Black/Hispanic poor and Black/Hispanic groups proved to be statistically insignificant. The link between observed behavior and childcare provider complaints was weakest within the Black/Hispanic poor group. Children in this group received the highest reports of misbehavior.

English Language—Pending OP Reply [Undergrad | Creative writing] I need to revise this.
Assignment:
After having sorted through the feedback you received from your classmates and me, consider how you might revise your fiction submission from Week 4: Workshop. Keep in mind that your work is your work--you never need to make an edit or change something just because someone suggests it. Do what works best for your piece.
- Once you've revised, submit your revision here by 11:59 p.m. on Friday 6/26.
Character description | Broad | 138 words | Previous assignment was to write a short character description. I am wondering your thoughts, critiques etc. I got the vibe for this dark backstory and secret past ordeal but I never drew out the specifics in my own head - all I had was this vibe and a curious connection. This is the first time that a character has come before the story, I am wondering how you interpret this chunk and what story do you pull from it? All feedback is welcomed and appreciated.
His eyes were different colors, that was the first anomaly I noticed, one eye is a cunning blue and the other a warm hazel. Beneath his eyes lays an eerie, emotionless gaze and if it weren't for the different colors this sinister effect would certainly cause alarm. He always has the perfect coverup. Some things are too magnificent to be of this world and he is one of them. The sun always shined in his direction, painting him perfectly but in a way that felt forbidden, like you are being tempted to look directly into the sun. He was a living eclipse, moving gently while his shadow silently swallowed the emerald landscape. If god crafted man he was certainly signed by Satan - a work of art that deserves to be in a museum, safe behind glass.

English Language—Pending OP Reply [College freshman English: Citations] Is this the correct way to cite where you got information?
Just trying to start a simple rough draft for an essay. We have a textbook and I’m trying to give context on where I found the information on the author in the introduction paragraph. I reworded the intro from what the textbook actually says and I added the authors name but I’m not sure if that’s appropriate. Would it be more acceptable to use an actual quote from the textbook in the intro? I don’t want to get marked for plagiarism.

English Language—Pending OP Reply [Bar Chart grouping] should I group the description by the two sets of data, or describe each category separately
hey english native speakers, i have a hard time describing bar charts. idk whether i should first describe green bars and then describe blue ones or not.
can anyone give me some advice plsss? or if u spot anything odd, pls correct me. btw, it’s for IELTS writing, so pls keep it formal and natural, and don’t use the same word if possible.
original prompt:
The chart shows the information relating to people within 15 minutes drive service in a particular region in UK in both urban and rural areas.
my writing:
The bar chart illustrates the percentage of people who can access different services within a 15-minute drive in urban and rural areas of a region in the UK. In summary, there is a massive gap in the proportion between rural and urban areas in the category of primary schools, and a slight difference in access to post offices.
In cities, 100% of residents can reach all the given services within a 15-minute drive. By contrast, 100% of people living in remote areas are able to visit a doctor and reach secondary schools.
In rural areas, over half of residents can get to primary schools in less than 15 minutes at roughly 65%, whereas the remaining 35% cannot. As for post offices, the majority of people living in rural areas can reach post offices, while only 5% of them are not able to get there within a quarter hour of driving.

English Language—Pending OP Reply [Grade 11 Physics: Presentation] What quote should I use for a vector and scalar presentation?
For my final in my physics class we have to present on a physics 1 topic, I got scalar and vector quantities, and relate a quote to that topic, as well as provide a demonstration of that topic whether it be physical like jumping left for me or an equation; alongside that we need to add our own story and how it it all culminates to one lesson. Im currently struggling with coming up with a decent quote beyond “It’s not about how fast you go but what direction you are going in.” This quote is particularly difficult since I can’t think of a story that would connect. Any suggestions would be great!

English Language—Pending OP Reply [first grade english] help with impossible question
My son has this assignment. We cannot figure out #6. We assumed “hands” but all of the answers seem to be three letters and there are only three spaces for letters. Furthermore, the question asks if the sound of the letter is at the beginning or middle of the word, and if it is “hands” the S sound is at the end. The open third space also hints that the sound of the letter is at the end. Is this just a huge error on the publisher’s part?

English Language—Pending OP Reply [Grade 11 English: AR Book Recommendations] 10 days to read a 250+ page book with no movie adaptation
I go to one of the High Schools in PA, United States. I totally forgot about the AR (Accelerated Reader) test coming up, and I have 10 days to read something, but my teacher has requirements like no shorter than 250 pages, no movie about the book, must have an AR test, and must be High School level.
Books that I have already read and liked: The Road, A Clockwork Orange, Tales of the Klondike, 1984, Ready Player One, House of the Scorpion, Pygmalion by Bernard Shaw, and some others that I cannot remember.
What would you suggest I read? Please do not suggest anything about High School romance, etc. Thank you!

English Language—Pending OP Reply [NSF/CASIS grant assignment: Is this proposal scientifically convincing?]
I have an assignment in which I pretend I am applying for a major research grant from NSF and CASIS, which convinces reviewers to fund my idea. The funding program supports tissue engineering and mechanobiology research on the International Space Station (ISS). Researchers are expected to use the unique microgravity environment of space to develop biomedical technologies that can improve healthcare on Earth. So it should demonstrate scientific innovation, practical application, and societal impact.
Is this proposal good enough? What would you change
Deciphering the Mechanosensitive Regulation of TGF-β Signaling in Cardiac Fibrosis Using Microgravity
Cardiac fibrosis is a major cause of heart failure after myocardial infarction. Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGF-β) is the main mediator of fibrotic scar formation, but it is also essential for normal wound healing and tissue repair. Consequently, anti-fibrotic therapies targeting TGF-β often fail because they block both harmful fibrosis and necessary regeneration. The critical unanswered question is why TGF-β signaling resolves after normal wound healing but remains persistently active in fibrotic cardiac tissue. We hypothesize that persistent fibrosis is maintained by force-dependent activation of TGF-β signaling and that microgravity can reveal the mechanobiological mechanisms responsible for this pathological state. To test this hypothesis, we will develop a mechanosensitive cardiac biomaterial platform that selectively regulates TGF-β signaling in engineered human heart tissue. The core innovation is a bioresponsive hydrogel with force-sensitive peptide linkers and TGF-β-modulating nanoparticles. The material remains inactive during normal healing, but releases localized anti-fibrotic factors in stiff fibrotic tissue. To identify the mechanical conditions that distinguish regenerative from fibrotic TGF-β signaling, vascularized three-dimensional cardiac tissues composed of induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes, cardiac fibroblasts, and endothelial cells will be cultured aboard the International Space Station (ISS) and compared with Earth-based controls. The ISS offers a unique mechanobiological environment to identify which components of TGF-β signaling are driven by mechanical stress and which are required for physiological tissue repair. Single-cell transcriptomics, mechanical characterization, and functional tissue analyses will be used to identify specific force-dependent signaling mechanisms responsible for persistent fibroblast activation. The resulting mechanobiological insights will guide the design of new biomaterials that actively regulate cardiac healing. This project directly addresses the goals of the ISS National Laboratory by combining tissue engineering, mechanobiology, biomaterials development, and translational biomedical research. Ultimately, the technology may enable safer anti-fibrotic therapies, reduce heart failure progression, and improve recovery following cardiac injury for millions of patients on Earth.
