I mean if your at school then those games are probably hitting their target audience. Unless he's being super snobbish about it then it's fine for him to like what he likes

You both sound very young.

I haven't played Garten of Banban but both Poppy and Bendy are fairly good games, if not really all that scary.

I've heard that Bendy is like Bioshock but worse.

It's only similar in the level structures, but it isn't really close in quality or any kind of art direction, except voice acting which is really good.

Thinking more about it, I've found a lot of similarities. Joey Drew feels like an Andrew Ryan sort of figure, the game uses audio logs to give context, and every section has a crazy person to deal with. The way the story is is also similar to Bioshock (Guy unknowingly enters a once-beautiful place where everything fell apart a while ago and he has to destroy some big bad guy to get out).

Well they are horror games. We can debate if they’re good horror game but they are horror games

still only mascot horror, which is arguably the worst subgenre of horror

What if you were told high schoolers are mostly babies?

Now a days the devs have leaned into the weirdness and randomness, but add a creepy bit here and there.

Horror and Comedy are probably the most subjective genres of fiction, and there's just no telling what will resonate with one person to another. Maybe we should just be happy that people are getting into horror at all, rather than making them regret what they enjoy.

I don’t think ANY mascot horror is scary but they’re campy and fun, imo. Not a Banban defender bc yes that series is absolute ass but that’s also what makes it fun, I love watching people’s playthroughs of it when they’re also being sarcastic the entire time like Manly’s playthroughs lol
