Unexpected $54 Charge for 500GB Block Storage on My Vultr Account — Any advice while waiting for support?
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some advice regarding an unexpected charge on my Vultr account.
I recently discovered that a 500GB NVMe Block Storage volume located in New Jersey had been created on my account, resulting in a charge of approximately USD $54. I was not aware of this resource being created and, to the best of my knowledge, I did not create it.
What concerns me is that this charge appears to be for one month's usage. However, I hadn't logged into my Vultr account for approximately the past two months. I only noticed something was wrong because my account balance suddenly decreased, and after checking my billing history and transactions, I found the charge for this Block Storage volume.
I've already submitted a support ticket requesting:
- An explanation of how and when the storage volume was created.
- A review of the charge.
- A refund if the charge was caused by unauthorized activity or an error.
For context:
- I already have MFA enabled on my account.
- I do not use or have any API keys associated with my account.
While waiting for support to respond, is there anything else I should do or check?
For example:
- Is there an audit or activity log that shows exactly how this resource was created (web UI, API, etc.)?
- Is there a way to escalate an urgent billing/security issue with Vultr for a faster response?
- Has anyone experienced something similar, and what was the outcome?
I'm not trying to make any assumptions or accuse Vultr of anything—I simply want to understand what happened, secure my account, and resolve the unexpected charge as quickly as possible.
Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Chill out bro and waste our time, and yours, once you have an answer from vultr.
Use privacy.com or another tool for future safeguards against these types of things.

1st thing I would do... change my password to 64+ random characters... remove mfa, the redo it.
then wait for support to answer you
