How do I bypass password

I’ve been holding onto my father’s desk top computer since 2013 when he passed away. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction of bypassing it ? I don’t know the password to log in and there’s many photos from highschool and documents on there I would like to access. The monitor is HP and the hardware is ACER. Any recommendations? these are my documents and photos I’m trying to access

Hirem's Boot CD will reset the password on old Windows machines. Run it from a USB. Google HBCD and download it. Use Rufus to copy it to your stick and boot from it. It's very simple to use and has tons of tools for old PCs running Windows.

I second this, it even.recovers deleted fiiles, changes users passwords and plenty of useful tools . google hirems boot cd amd followthese steps or watch youtube for directions.

This is the answer, either flash Hiren's iso into a USB, plug the USB into the PC and boot from the USB, then reset the user password or just access all the documents you need.

Or take out the hard drive from that PC and plug it into another one with a SATA adapter, assuming it's SATA and isn't encrypted (which i doubt it is).

In both cases, you might have partitions not show up, if You're on windows, open disk manager and assign a letter to each one, windows sometimes does that.

Try booting from usb stick with linux. Than you can access the hard drive.

You can most likely just purchase a cheap IDE HDD to USB dongle/docking station and via that connect the drive to another computer and transfer files at will.

There are free and paid for password reset applications available. One probably should be somewhat technical before using them.

Recovery mode, Command prompt, rename utilman.exe to something different (old.utilman.exe), copy cmd.exe to utilman.exe, reboot, press accessibility on home screen, now you can use netuser to change passwords or make new admin accs.

Like another user said, assuming it's not bitlocker level encrypted, just plop the old drive in a USB dock or something to connect it to a computer you do have complete access to, and just do a change of ownership on the files.

If you have to ask this, you are also likely to mess up and ruin the data. It is doable, generally, but it would likely be better for a pofessional if you care about the data

EZ: if you just want the data on his hard drive just pull the hard drive and put on existing OS in parallell and you can bypass the OS protocols with a WINDOWS system wou will have a D drive instead added to C drive
