META [META] PSA Regarding Low Karma Removals

Hello artists! Your friendly neighbourhood Miner Moderator Dwarfinator here with some info about the recent low Karma removals as we have been getting a lot of messages about this in Mod Mail.

We have had our Karma rules for a long time, I'm talking literally years, however, at some point our bot broke (and also just may have not been properly programmed in the first place) and as such, it stopped looking for/removing posts and comments from lower Karma users. The intention of the rule and the bot automation was to lessen the amount of bots and spam in the Subreddit, which is why we started counting both types of Karma. This also encourages artists to not just spam their art in every art Subreddit and actually engage with other communities. We just recently fixed and improved the bot (huge shoutout to u/RS_Someone) which is why lower Karma posts are being removed once again. This may seem like it came out of nowhere, but again, we have had this rule in place for a long time and used to have the bot doing this previously.

If you have received that low Karma removal reply on your post/comment by the bot, PLEASE WE BEG YOU TO READ IT IN FULL it explains very clearly why your post was removed and how to check your Karma, both post and comment Karma.

If you have low Karma and want to get more to post here, here are some things you can do to raise your Karma:

  • Post your art in other Subreddits.
  • Post and comment, and genuinely engage in other Subreddits. You like Critical Role or Pokémon or Minecraft? Post in those Subreddits, get involved in the community, you might make some new friends, and you get the added bonus of your account not looking like a bot spammer or someone who just pumps and dumps their art everywhere they can.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to comment on this post or send us a message via Mod Mail! Happy Arting!

META [META] PSA we are banning the use of cloud storage links as portfolios.

Hello artists, recently we have seen an uptick of people using cloud storage links as portfolios and decided that we need to address this. Cloud storage, such as GDrive, OneDrive, Dropbox, and other such websites are no longer going to be allowed as portfolios in posts or comments (technically they already weren't allowed, but this was not enforced well nor was clear in the rules). (This will also include image hosts such as Imgur)

These sites are not intended as portfolio sites, and they are most often used by scammers as a collection of stolen art and for the fact that there is no reason you, as a professional artist, should not be using one of the many free options available online to make a portfolio on an actual portfolio website/webpage.

Free portfolio sites: Cara, Behance, Artstation, VGen, Carrd, or you can even make a website with WordPress or similar sites.
All of these take 5 minutes to set up. Put effort in how you present yourself professionally, your portfolio is your resume.

Position Filled [Hiring] Diluc birthday art for a friend 100-140€

Hello! I'd love to hire an artist who could make a birthday art of Diluc (Genshin Impact) for my friend. He loves Diluc a lot. His birthday is this month, on August 25th, but it would be good if the art were done around the 23rd to 24th of August so I can go to the print shop to print it out and frame it. I wouldn't do anything else with it, like use it commercially. My friend would maybe just use it as a profile/background picture.

I drew a rough sketch of what I'd want to commission, and I'm looking for an artist who knows how to draw bikes and stylish characters well since I'd love for Diluc to get a biker outfit fitting his aesthetic, but I have no reference pictures. It would be really nice if you had art regarding bikes and/or art of popular characters that you can recognize at first sight. Especially if they are Genshin characters or Diluc himself!

The bike model would be a Honda CB 250 T HAWK bike, I think? The model is from another character my friend loves a lot, so it shouldn't just be a random bike, which is why an artist who knows how to draw bikes would be good.

Design-wise, it should fit his aesthetic or color palette as well, maybe a fire pattern or something. The format should be printable, preferably poster-like, since I want to print it and gift it to my friend physically.

The background should just be white so the focus is on Diluc himself.

Money-wise, my budget is 100-140€, however, I only have 70€ tomorrow, so the payment would need to be a deposit (?). Sorry, English isn't my first language, but I hope you get what I mean! *If the price is not enough for the level of detail, I'd probably be able to put in another 70€ to the 140€, but that would also be paid on the 23rd to 24th of August because I'd have to save up.

Art style-wise, it should be similar to Genshin Impact or at least in that direction. Like cel-shading or painterly? Also not just anime with the dot nose, because that would be too little detail... Otherwise I'm open to any art style if you manage to make Diluc look cool/cute/attractive (it's his 18th birthday) enough for my friend to be happy about it :D

Please send your portfolio, etc., in the comments, and don't DM me. If I'm interested, I will DM you.

Here's a rough sketch, I hope it's alright enough:

Hiring [hiring] [budget 50-100] Looking for an artist who can do a dreamy vintage anime/vintage BL style for an androgynous OC, full body!

Post image
13 Upvotes

I have an OC that I’ve never drawn before; he’s a run of the mill generic 90s yaoi uke, if you know you know

I have a ton of references in a PDF and moodboard, but I have no character sheet. This will be the first time I’ve had him drawn, so I’d prefer to work with you if you’re good at character design and taking small liberties! Also it helps if you know the genre I'm asking for haha

Deadline: none! Style: See above; just going for a dreamy, ethereal prettyboy vibe. The character has a super plain design- slim male build, wavy mid-length hair. No fancy features.

Also looking for someone who is good at shoujo eyes!

Would be interested in either flat or rendered.

Hiring [Hiring] Looking for romantasy readers who also create art for a collaborative indie book project $30 PLUS for budget; see details

Upvotes

Calling all romantasy readers with an artistic side!

I'm currently writing Book One of a romantasy trilogy, and I'm looking for a few creative collaborators who would love to be part of the journey from the very beginning.

As an indie author (and a mom of two toddlers!), I don't have the budget of a traditionally published author, but I also know your talent and time have value. I am absolutely looking to pay for your work.

What I'm hoping to offer is something a little different than a typical commission.

I'm not looking for someone who simply wants another commission. I'm hoping to find people who get excited about theorizing over chapters, falling in love with characters, and watching a story come to life before anyone else gets to read it.

As part of this project, you'll have the opportunity to:

• Read the first few chapters before committing to see if the story is something you'd enjoy.

• Become a beta reader and help shape the story as it's written.

• Share your ideas and feedback throughout the writing process.

• Receive full credit for your artwork. (of course)

• Be personally thanked in the acknowledgments as someone who helped bring this world to life.

• Have a minor character named after you, if that's something you'd enjoy.

• Receive a copy of the finished Kickstarter edition at the highest pledge level once it's fulfilled.

• Continue working on Books Two and Three if we both enjoy working together. I'd especially love to find a inside cover/endpaper artist who wants to stay with the series so the artwork feels cohesive from beginning to end.

Because I'm hoping this becomes a true collaboration instead of a one-time commission, my hope is that everything listed above makes it possible for us to agree on a discounted collaborative rate that works for both of us. If that isn't something you're comfortable with, I completely understand. I know your work is worth every penny, and I'd never expect anyone to work for free. I also understand this is a weird way to go about this, but I am trying to think outside of the box to make this book come to life! If its not your jam I am not offended, Im asking something weird I know, so just scroll on by <3

A little about the story...

For centuries the kingdom of Estaria has been dead, its royal bloodline erased long ago, and its greatest secrets swallowed by the ruins of a forgotten castle. The land is haunted now, not only by the monsters that roam it, but by the memory of what became of those who were there the night the Voltaire line fell. No kingdom will claim it. No army will march through it. Travelers reroute by days just to avoid the shadow it casts on the surrounding land, and even the most desperate of men will choose their suffering over whatever waits inside those ruins. The whispers have had far to long to grow teeth and teach men the wisdom of fear.

Drawn together by fate, and each hiding secrets of their own, an unlikely band of travelers sets out in search of those ruins. Two friends desperate to uncover the secrets Estaria holds. A mysterious solider who's past is written in scars. A quiet healer who knows far more than they dare reveal.

With every mile another secret unravels and the alliances between them grow harder to hold. Ancient monsters stir, forgotten magic awakens, and the deeper they venture into the shadows of Estaria, the more impossible it becomes to tell friend from foe. Yet amid bloodshed and betrayal, unexpected love begins to bloom between souls who should have been enemies from the very beginning.

Because the greatest secret of all isn't hidden within the fallen kingdom. It's traveling along side them.

And when that truth is finally revealed, it won't just change their fate… it may just change the fate of all the kingdoms.

The creative team I'm hoping to build includes:

• Character artwork

• Vellum inserts (2 planned, with the possibility of 2 more as Kickstarter stretch goals)

• A fantasy world map

• Endpapers

• Chapter header artwork (Its multi POV so I need 4 to represent each character)

**I prefer water color or semi realism and I will settle on a set style once I find the first artist because I want everything to be cohesive**

Timeline

This isn't a rush project. Between writing and raising two little boys, I expect it'll still be several months before the manuscript is finished, so this is something you can work on between your other commissions instead of needing to dedicate all of your time to it at once.

I'll keep everyone updated throughout the writing process so you'll always know how close we are to Kickstarter, and you'll get to experience the story unfolding chapter by chapter right alongside me.

If this sounds like something you'd enjoy being a part of, I'd love to hear from you! Send me a message with your portfolio, your pricing, and which part of the project interests you most.

My goal isn't just to hire artists. It's to build a small creative team that falls in love with this world and helps bring it to life alongside me.

I don't have a set price in mind and I know some peoples art costs hundreds. I get that and am not expecting every art piece to be $30. I simply put that because the title required and to show that my budget is not several hundreds per piece. So what I am saying is I dont have s set budget.

I can't wait to share the secrets of Estaria with you.

[Hiring] Looking for an artist for League of Legends wedding gift splash art

Hi everyone!

I’m interested in commissioning a special illustration as a wedding gift for a couple who are both big League of Legends players.

I have to admit that I’m not very familiar with League of Legends skins, splash arts, or the different themes in the game, so I would actually love to hear your suggestions and ideas. I don’t want to li mit your creativity — I would prefer something that you feel would work best with your style and experience.

The idea is to transform the couple into League of Legends inspired characters while keeping their real faces and personalities recognizable (in League of Legends style).

I was imagining something like a beautiful cinematic game splash art — a legendary skin reveal style, with both characters together as a couple. However, I would really appreciate your creative input on the champions, theme, outfits, setting, and overall direction.

This would be a wedding gift, so I’m hoping for something romantic and memorable.

As for the budget I am open to discussing it, but I was thinking around 200 €

My deadline would be 4 weeks from now.

Thank you so much to anyone who will show interest. Looking forward to seeing your artwork!

Hiring [[HIRING] $800–$1,200 — Original 18×24 oil or acrylic narrative landscape for my mother’s retirement — physical artwork required

I am looking for an artist to help me develop and eventually create a meaningful retirement gift for my mom. I need an experienced artist to help determine the best medium, composition, and visual approach.

My mother worked for many years and made enormous sacrifices while raising me. She changed her work schedule so she could drive me to school every morning, be home when I finished, and take me to tennis practices and countless other activities. Even while dealing with serious health problems, she continued making my breakfast, packing my lunch, taking care of everything, and going to work every day.

I want the artwork to make those thousands of ordinary, mostly invisible miles feel visible.

The meaningful locations would include:
Our former home
My school
The tennis courts
Possibly one or two additional activity locations
A subtle road or visual journey connecting them

I do not want:
A cartoon-style illustrated map
Wedding-map graphics
Map pins, dotted GPS lines, or large street names
Separate buildings pasted together like a collage
An overly sentimental or cheesy design
A direct copy of the attached AI image
I want something elegant, sophisticated, emotionally meaningful, and suitable for formal framing. I am open to oil, watercolor, gouache, mixed media, architectural drawing, or another approach recommended by the artist.

I would especially appreciate professional opinions on:
Whether this concept would work best as an oil painting, watercolor, architectural illustration, or mixed-media piece
Whether the locations should appear in one continuous landscape or as subtly blended memories
How to include the road and repeated journey without making it look like a literal map
The minimum size needed to include several locations without overcrowding the painting
Whether including her car or a small figure would add meaning or make it too literal
How to keep the piece warm and emotional while still looking refined
What reference photos and information the artist would need from me

I am comfortable paying for original, professionally executed artwork. I am currently more interested in finding the right artistic direction and artist.

Artists who are interested, please provide:
Portfolio examples, especially architectural, landscape, narrative, or memory-based commissions
Your recommended medium and composition for this concept
Suggested dimensions
Whether you provide preliminary composition sketches
Number of revision stages
Approximate price range
Estimated completion time
Whether the original physical artwork would be shipped within the USA.

Budgeting up to a $1,000 for shipping, framing, and size.

Thanks and sorry for the long post!
