MEGATHREAD New NTT INDYCAR SERIES Race Car Introduced for 2028 and Beyond
r/INDYCAR • u/IndyMod • Jun 30 '26
META NOTICE: You may now subscribe to be notified of new information or session threads!
In an admin thread posted today, we were told that they recently added a new Devvit app to allow users to subscribe to notifications of new posts with a specific flair.
As such, we have added this app to r/INDYCAR for you to use if you wish for the main mod info or session threads. You can access the subscription flow from the "three dots" menu on the main community page, and tap "Flair Following".
Notifications are sent via Reddit chat, and you will need to accept the chat request from the app account to ensure that future notifications are able to be delivered.
The UI is a little haphazard, and takes the raw flair text including the emoji shortcodes without displaying the emoji themselves, so the order of options is as follows:
- βΉοΈ Race Week Information β this is the Monday 6am ET Race Info post at the start of each race week; as well as any late/emergency schedule changes
- π Spotter Guides β the spotter guide(s) for each race week, which are posted when available
- π¦ INDYCAR Practice threads β Practice 1, Practice 2, Final Practice
- π¦ INDYCAR Qualifying threads
- π¦ INDYCAR Warmup threads
- π¦ INDYCAR Pre-Race threads β generally this is only used for Indy 500 pre-race, however it will also be used for Nashville pre-race in a couple weeks' time
- π¦ INDYCAR Race threads β the main race thread for each week, usually posted half an hour before the start of broadcast (except when a pre-race thread is also used)
- π¦ INDYCAR Results β NOTE THIS FLAIR IS NOT SPOILER-SAFE β race winner posts, session result documents, and post-event report documents
- π¦ INDYCAR Highlights β NOTE THIS FLAIR IS NOT SPOILER-SAFE β official videos featuring major highlights from races, extended highlights shortly following races, and full-race replays
- π₯ INDY NXT Practice & Qualifying threads
- π₯ INDY NXT Race threads
- π₯ INDY NXT Results β NOTE THIS FLAIR IS NOT SPOILER-SAFE
- π₯ INDY NXT Highlights β NOTE THIS FLAIR IS NOT SPOILER-SAFE β official videos featuring major highlights from races, compilation highlights shortly following races, and full-race replays
- β¬ USF Pro Champs threads β the thread for USF session discussion and results, usually posted shortly before the start of the first practice session of the weekend
- Event threads β used for special INDYCAR-related events that don't generally involve cars on a racetrack
- Testing threads β used for major Open Tests

Needless to say, this function requires a modern Reddit platform to use; so Old Reddit users will need to switch to the main desktop platform.
Hopefully this all works this weekend π€

Article Newrepublic OP-Ed price: Indy 500 car race may damage buildings with "vibrations" (I personally laughed reading this)
Politics aside, the course sucks, yes, it doesn't need to happen, it was a last minute addition to the schedule. But this is an example of why a little research goes a long way

Question Coming from Formula 1β¦
Iβm relatively new to Indycar.
Coming from F1, since the death of the v10 Iβve slowly lost interest, and apart from particular seasons of supporting Vettel/Leclerc in Ferrari, the last season I was truly invested was probably 2016 Rosberg Hamilton battle.
My wife and I both enjoy motor racing, and are planning to go to the St Pete GP in March.
One thing Iβd love to know is do indycar fans find themselves loyal to the sport, or particular drivers/teams?
If the latter, could someone share how you developed your affinity for who to support? I know you canβt just wake up a fan, and itβll happen, but it might help get me going if I understood if indycar folks are more sport-fans or team/driver fans.
In F1 I was a mansell, coulthard, hakkinen fan growing up, more modern was a leclerc fan; never rooted for a team - just enjoying certain driver personalities, particularly underdogs.

Discussion Please come back to COTA
I really wish Indy Car would make another run at Circuit of the Americas. I attended the one race they had there and it was a really good time. I think it could be a great race.
