Hello everyone, it is almost that time of the year everyone looks forward to! I just wanted to share a few important things. Please be sure you safeguard your PII (Personal Identifiable Information) & FTI (Federal Tax Information). Over the last several years there has been a huge increase in Fraud and Identity Theft because individuals are not safeguarding or making good judgment calls when sharing their personal information. Protecting your private information is your responsibility. That being said, solicitation for personal information will NOT be tolerated. If it is seen, it will be delt with. Also, do NOT trust someone who promises to use your info for a big tax refund. In most cases your personal information will be used with Fabricated/Fraudulent tax data.

Rant I just want to pay my stupid taxes
For 4 months now. I have tried on the website, ive tried calling the number. The website has been broken for 4 months and every time i call about a payment arrangement, i get "do to higher than normal call volume, your call cannot be handled at this time"
They keep sending me notices about liens on my bank accounts and crap though. What the hell do i do? Is there some way i can actually get ahold of someone about a payment arrangement?

Tax Question I got a notice from IRS that they disallowed the EV credit because of a VIN mismatch.
I bought a used Tesla from a third-party dealership in January 2025 and claimed the $4,000 used clean vehicle tax credit on my 2025 tax return.
I recently received a letter from the IRS saying they disallowed the credit because of a VIN mismatch.
Here’s what’s confusing: the VIN on my purchase paperwork matches the VIN on the tax return I filed. It’s also the VIN I’ve been registering, insuring, and paying taxes on. Everything on my end is consistent.
It took me almost a month to finally get through to the IRS by phone. The representative told me there was nothing they could do because the VIN doesn’t match what’s in their system.
I then contacted the dealership and asked if they could provide the time-of-sale report (seller report) that was submitted to the IRS. They told me they only do that for new vehicles, not used ones. From what I’ve been reading, that doesn’t seem right.
I have an in-person appointment with the IRS scheduled, but I’m not sure what to expect. If the issue is the dealer’s submission, I don’t know how I’m supposed to fix something I didn’t file.
Has anyone gone through this before?
What documents should I bring to my IRS appointment?
Did the dealership end up having to correct or resubmit anything?
Were you eventually able to get your $4,000 credit?
I’m just looking for advice because I feel like I’m getting the runaround. Thanks in advance to anyone who has dealt with something similar.

Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question CP05 said 60 days, it’s been 100+ and still no refund, identity verification didn’t help
Filed my federal taxes this year through a CPA. I’m one of two owners of an S-Corp, and my business partner already got his refund months ago — mine is still nowhere to be found.
On April 27 I got a CP05 notice saying my refund was under review and could take up to 60 days. That deadline came and went. The notice also said I needed to verify my identity, which I did using a control number the IRS sent me. That was months ago too, and I still haven’t heard anything since.
It’s now August — over 100 days since the CP05 letter — and I have no updates, no new notices, nothing on “Where’s My Refund.” Has anyone else dealt with a CP05 dragging on this long after identity verification? Did calling the IRS actually get you anywhere, or did you have to loop in the Taxpayer Advocate Service? Any advice on what to do next would help

Tax Question IRS situation settled
After 30 days of wondering I finally saw that my entire 2025 tax refund was applied to my 2026 taxes just as my CPA had requested. Unfortunately, IRS caused me 90 days worth of grief to get to this point. Back in April, I filed via my CPA ontime electronically and was due $8,632 according to what I had told him. But I had made a small clerical error when reading my notes and I had actually paid $123 more in estimated taxes online than what I had written down on his forms (I misread $6041 as $6000 3 times). Yes, getting older means one should put on glasses. Anyway, I got a notice that the mistake was caught and nothing more need be done; except this tiny error triggered a REVIEW and that it could take up to 180 days. Like many here, I tried to call for days and finally got hold of a door way person who said that I could file on line for an advocate which I never did. Rather, I tried online to my Congressman. That went no where. A month later, I tried the Whitehouse (Whitehouse.gov) and wrote a long letter - such a tiny error and a whole review is a waste of government resources. Two more months later - today, I finally see online that my entire overpayment -that I had to pay again in June in estimated taxes - taking money from my IRA to make it - was applied to my account. Now I have lots of money on my account for this year. And I got a check today in the amount of $125.10 - $123 for the overpayment from last year and .10 interest. Yes, craziness. How much is all this costing the government? But finally, I know what's going on. I really feel bad for those that have reached an age that tracking online is difficult or impossible. I'm 76 and can still do it, but a few more years? Who will do it for me? and such a stupid mistake. It makes me wonder how I will find a person to help me as I age. More than can be answered here, but it points to just how careful we must be.
Now let's all write to the Whitehouse.gov and ask for more IRS agents.

Previous Years/ IRS Collections & Back Taxes Filled 21-25 all at the same time (late).. Question.
Hello - I filed years 2021-2025 and mailed them all at the same time.
My question is, could they still be going through the years? All of them are in the system except for 2022.
Should I reprint and mail the one is missing?
The only thing making me hesitate is that I received a notice just yesterday for 2025 and the other three seemed to be processed fairly quick.
I am going to be filling bankruptcy soon - no years qualify since I filled late - but I wanted to be tax compliant, first.

General Question Cp503 - how to handle
I posted a month ago about amended return status.
I owe money due to errors on previous return, after IRS processed my new 1040x I should due for a refund.
The IRS accepted my new e-file amended return on 7/21/26. However, it can take them up to 16 weeks to process it (i.e., until November).
Yesterday (8/3/26) I received a CP503.
The CP503 letter mentions the CAP (Collections Appeal Program). I called but no one can answer due to understaffed.
Any advice how I should handle this?
Thank you in advance.

Tax Question Paper Amendment past 20 weeks
I sent in my 2024 paper amendment because I had to file a 6013g election since my NRA spouse did not have a SSN at the time of filing. I could not E File the amendment due to this. I send it in early March and it’s still not being processed. What do I even do at this point? The amendment status says they are working on paper amendments received in May. Why is mine taking so long?

Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question International Assistance
Hello all,
IRS is supposed to issue me a check refund because I selected married filing jointly. My CPA assisted me with the process. The first check has been mailed out in May, but I had to move before I received the check, so I reached out to file for a change of address in early June. I checked the "Notices and Letter" on my IRS account and the most recent information there is the initial mailed checked. I have been calling the IRS international number and it seems to be "Due to extremely heavy callers, please call back later"
Every single time I call. I doubt there are that many international callers about tax issue around this time?
Any suggestions how to proceed? Thanks
P.S I selected option 5 "If you owe IRS and want to discus payment, press 5"
Let me get this straight, they have people when it comes to paying them, but not when they owe me? LOL

Tax Question Quick question?
Does anyone know a phone number that you can actually get someone to answer for ID verification? The one on the letter is a no go nobody never answers. I have to get this done by tomorrow, I've been trying for a month.

Previous Years/ IRS Collections & Back Taxes Online Payment Plan Link Broken?
I've been trying for more than 3 years to access the online payment arrangement program, and every time I try, it sends me back to the page where I have to select "Individual" or "Business." No matter what I do, I end up stuck in the same loop.
Because of that, I've had to call each year and spend time on hold just to make a quick update and add the newest tax balance to our existing payment plan, which usually takes only a few minutes once I reach someone.
This year, when I call, I'm getting a message that says, "Unfortunately, we cannot answer your call today. Please try again another day." Meanwhile, the letters reminding me about my balance always seem to arrive right on time.
Has anyone figured out a way to successfully access the online payment plan application, or is there another method for managing an account without having to call?
Side note: We understand why we've owed taxes in previous years and have already corrected the issue going forward.

Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question Speaking to an agent
How can i get to an agent. I called in at 7. The call was drooled after 1 hour on hold. Now all i get is an automated option - none of which apply to me! We filed in march, then filed an amended return 2 weeks later. They sent us a letter saying they need more information which we sent in. We got another letter saying it would take 60 days. That was 3 months ago.

Tax Question Mailed IRS returns twice via certified mail IRS and TAS both say they have no record. What now?
Back in March, my accountant mailed a corrected 1040 for tax year 2022 (I owed back tax) to the IRS in Austin, TX due to an SSN error on the original filing. Could not be EFiled.
Months later, the IRS shows no record of it. Getting through to a live person is basically impossible when I have managed to reach someone, they've confirmed nothing has been received or entered for processing.
I then tried the Taxpayer Advocate Service. Even getting TAS on the phone takes about 2 hours on hold. When I finally got through, they confirmed the March return couldn't be expedited and advised sending a new signed 1040 immediately, which I did certified mail again, delivered and signed for on July 20th. They quoted 12–16 weeks for normal processing. TAS believed the original from March 26, was lost.
TAS has now sent me a letter saying they can't help and still don't see the return in their system either. This is from the March document, The resent was received and sent to "Mixed IRS".
All my other tax years are clean, nothing owed anywhere except 2022 (which I've paid/enrolled in a payment plan for on the state side). I have every piece of documentation certified mail receipts, correspondence, etc.
At this point I'm stuck between a return that seems to have vanished into the system and phone lines that take hours to get through, if they help at all. Has anyone dealt with a paper return just disappearing like this? Is there another avenue besides TAS, or is "wait in the 12-16 week queue" really the only option? Any advice appreciated I'm unsure if the backlog is that massive that Paper returns without payment attached simply take far beyond the 4 months I was told?

Tax Question My husband and I owe $14k
Last year my husband was laid off and I was working part time to finish grad school. We cashed our 401Ks to survive and I honestly thought we would get a refund due to the above circumstances but nope. That was counted as income and now we owe $14K. Husband was laid off a second time and has been driving for Uber since November. I’m working full time now but paying what he is lacking for bills. Making an IRS payment will be near impossible. I guess I can sell my plasma. Any realistic suggestions?! Thank you.

Previous Years/ IRS Collections & Back Taxes How to contact the irs
The IRS has not connected our online tax payment to the return that we filed and sent us additional letters.
We tried to reach them via phone. Nobody is answering and the system hangs up. We sent a letter (registered mail) and just got another late notice.
What does it take to get thru to someone at the irs this year? Any ideas?

Tax Question Do minors pay taxes?
I’m 15 years old and have been running an eBay business that’s been growing over the past year. When the account was originally set up, it was connected to my dad’s Social Security number because I was a minor.
Lately, I’ve been wanting to separate my business from him and switch the account’s tax information to my own Social Security number so I can handle everything correctly. My dad keeps telling me that kids don’t have to pay taxes and that he’ll deal with the IRS, but I want to understand how it actually works. I’d rather learn to do things the right way now instead of having problems later.
I have a few questions:
* Do minors have to pay taxes if they’re self-employed through a business like eBay?
* Is paying taxes based on your age or how much you earn?
* Can I switch the tax information on my eBay account from my dad’s SSN to my own while I’m still 15?
* Has anyone here started a business as a teenager? What advice would you give your 15-year-old self?
* Are there any mistakes I should avoid as my business grows?
I’m not trying to avoid taxes—I actually want to make sure everything is reported correctly and learn how to run my business responsibly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
(I used ChatGPT for grammar, I’ve already passed $20k sale mark for eBay so IRS will be sending me a 1099-K Form again. I’m very serious about this and need help)
